I prefer to do most of my shopping online instead of going to the stores. Who agrees with me on that?
I am sure the majority of WP members are online shoppers as well.

I have always been happy with my online purchases except for this one time. I was certain I bought a short, tailored black woollen coat from an online clothing shop. I was already looking forward to wearing it because I had some nice scarfs that could go well with it. When the coat finally arrived I was shocked, I don't have the right words to describe it but instead of niceley tailored short
black coat I unpacked this bizar looking thing. The top of the garment looked like the coat I had ordered but just before the shop shipped it they had apparently decided to sew a large peace of extra cloth on to the coat. It looked like a coat that had a nineteenth century skirt attached to it. It was the weirdest peace of clothing I ever saw. It was supposed to be a short coat but when I put it on it nearly reached the floor. The biggest disaster is that I forgot to send it back on time and missed my chance of getting a refund. I still have it and I get pissed off every time I look at it.

What are your online shopping experiences?

the problem with online shopping is that you can't see the actual item you are shopping for, and as a result one can get stuck with stuff that is not what one wanted- case in point, my recent purchase of a record album that was purportedly in stereo but when my copy arrived in the mail it was mono, so I would have had to pay the postage to send it back and maybe/maybe not get a timely refund.

A good website has several pictures taken from different angles of the items they sell. It is even possible to click on those pictures to get a a full screen image. I admit that it is not the same as looking at an item in a store though.

this was amazon. often for things like old phonograph recordings there is no picture at all or one low-rez pic. one has to go on the printed description to know what one is getting and when one goes over to the used section there are no pics and often no descriptions. it is a gamble [akin to a pig in a poke] and I lost that time.

I will buy books, comics, DVDs and CDs online but almost never buy clothes online. I can't know how they'll fit unless I actually try them. Even seeing the clothes in multiple angles won't tell me if they'll fit and look decent.

The only time I will buy clothes online is when I already have something the designer made and so I know if the sizes run small, or big.

I might buy shoes online but only New Balance because I have a pair and I know what size fits already.

Hi auntblabby! I never buy from those Amazon 2nd party dealers - one time I bought a used netbook that was said to be refurbished. Their return policy was TWO WEEKS. On the day after it expired, it came up with an irreparable error. I know how to replace lots of computer parts, but this was nearly impossible for a layman. They wouldn't do anything about it and that was the last time I ever used a 2nd party dealer.

hiya Wozeree :) frequently for the kind of rare stuff I get, 2nd parties are the only game in town. I can't use ebay anymore since they insisted everybody use paypal [IOW have gold-plated credit scores], so amazon and similar are all that is available to me for some rare musics.

I realized it after I posted it - like a delayed reaction - or old age!

You must have a really nice collection!

a nice collection of other people's cast-off stuff, now it all has a home where it is loved to pieces. some recent finds-

*laurindo almeida- classical currents, electronic excursions" - an album of beautiful ear candy
*don costa & the 101 strings orchestra - "swingin' things" - a brass and strings bit of ear candy, done big-band style
*the essential glenn miller - an album of definitively remastered glenn miller classics, heard here for the first time in clean clear sound
*a john waters xmas" - need I say more?
*an xmas sound spectacular - john klein @ the carillon, with symphony and chorus

I just listened to him on Amazon - nice!

I was thinking Glen Miller was the guy we used to sing along with when I was a kid, but that was Mitch Miller! :D

since the laurindo almeida one was not on CD but only on phonograph LP, I am in the process of digitizing it now, it is a joy to listen to. glenn miller what the guy that your parents sang along with, sorta. maybe they danced along with his music on the [78 rpm] box.

On-line shopping is a blessing for me as it easier to find and purchase things that relate to interests or stuff I can't find in Australia like some makeup brands.

I do quite a bit for several reasons

get to avoid the crowds & people, nice relief

I don't have a car

the biggest problem I am finding is ever since I moved to the new city I live in things are not being delivered correctly, either they just don't ever show up - or even worse they say they have been delivered and nothing shows up - this recently happened to 4 packages at once and I almost exploded.

after 4 weeks of trying to work stuff out one thing was being redelivered and they made 3 supposed attempts in one week but never showed up each day I kept calling the delivery company and they kept NOT showing up - then on a day they were not supposed to show up - they were supposed to show up on friday from 9-12 they call me while I am in a college office at 1:30 and I get in trouble for answering the phone I tell him to show up the next day not call back and hang up - the jerk calls back - so I go outside and yell at him - I get the cops called on me for having a meltdown in public and scaring people I had to leave and miss my appointment.

so now I am stuck, I can't shop in public and I can't seem to trust the delivery system where I live.

Never shopped online and probably I am never going to.

This is the reason why.
A person as paranois as I am is unable to shop online.
Make me see the stuff I want to be and let me see/touch it to see if it's what I want. Otherwise, I'm not gonna buy your stuff.
