Woman says she's smart? Must be arrogant or ugly.

Um, I feel like you're just flaming here. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have had numerous people bother me about not being married yet. To me it is very nosy to do that, and it gets very annoying, especially when they want to make me feel bad and add conformity pressure and stigma.

I have many reasons for not getting married, and arrogance is not one of them.

what i love is when strangers ask me if i have children, and when i say no they instantly pass judgment on me that i am some kind of "failed" woman who will never know fulfillment in life (--i actually had an older retired ob/gyn say this to me in so many words once in line at the grocery store 8O).

if you happen to be female but don't want to spend your life chained in domesticity for the sake of others it seems to indicate to a lot of people that you are fundamentally flawed in character. just because i am not completely self-less like women are still expected to be does not mean i am irretrievably selfish--but many see it that way.
