I think I'm at risk for early menopause. I have been getting some symptoms and i learned my granny menopaused at age 40 and my mom at 46.

I wonder if a lot of people who are autistic get early menopause. I swear Granny is mildly. Just *very* mildly. Mom I think so mildly as well.

According to google, it's normal to get menopause as early as 40, average is between 45 and 50

I'm 35 and well 2 years into menopause. My mom was in her 50's, my grandma I don't know, but one of her sisters was only 23! 8O

I've never heard of a connection between ASD and early menopause, not even a rumored one. I have heard of a rumored connection between IBD (which I have) and early menopause. That's a relatively common comorbid, and I wonder if it's the comorbids that cause early menopause for those who have experienced it. Assuming they aren't genetically predisposed already, of course.

I'm all up for early menopause, less chances to get pregnant on accident. I have no info on my own family history, my mom isn't there yet, her mother had a hysterectomy, and my other grandmother died years ago and I'm not close enough to my grandfather to ask.

I haven't read of any connection between ASD and early menopause, either. Actually, I have to yet to come across any connection between ASD and any facet of reproductive health, including age at menarche.

My mother and her mother both menopaused at age 45, and my various aunts (except one) ranged between ages 42 to 55. That one "exceptional" aunt allegedly menopaused in her 30s. I say allegedly because, knowing her, I smell BS. It was more likely just a story she made up to prevent her husband from getting "personal" with her anymore -- culturally, menopause also meant the end of your sex life, so that was HIGHLY probably just something that she pulled on her unsuspecting man. My paternal grandmother passed away before I was born so no clue as to her age at menopause (and anyone who would have known is now either senile or dead).

I am getting close to the age range where almost all of my family hit that "magical age and stage" and I am actually looking forward to it. Not that there is any chance of accidental pregnancy in my case. With my PCOD, I am lucky if I have one menstrual cycle a year, so menopause won't be too hard for me. I just want to get over and be done with it.

ASD doesn't affect when one goes through the menopause.
