I'm posting this because of the tendency for doctors to tell women with menstrual problems that "it's hormonal", without explaining to them what is going on with their bodies.

Below is a link to the start of the chapter on menstrual abnormalities in the Merck Manual Professional Version

Introduction to Menstrual Abnormalities - Merck Manual Professional Version

Below is a link similar to the one above, but oriented towards the lay person.
Menstrual Disorders and Abnormal Vaginal Bleeding - Merck Manual Consumer Version

Below is a link with the names of different menstrual phenomena.
Menstrual Phenomenas

Here is an illustration of how hormones fluctuate during a normal menstrual cycle to aid you in your understanding.

In the last year (never before this) I have been vomiting in the luteal phase. Some of the worst bouts of nausea and intense vomiting I have ever experienced. I have no idea why this is happening but it's an awful feeling. I have always had very short cycles that come every 20 days so I dead the fact within approximately every 2 and a half weeks these symptoms will be coming.
