Dealing with male boss.
I will admit I am in the wrong. But at the same time I wish my boss was just straight forward instead of being nosey/pushy.
For context, I have been struggling with insomnia due to my depression/ptsd so my boss have been having serious talks with me. That's all fine and dandy to warn me but he makes me uncomfortable by asking me personal questions about my life and asking if my dad gets mad at me.
I regret standing up to him since he did became more firm. I told him I am fine enough to keep working but he was aggressive on wanting me to stay home which I will say I eventually wanted to go home to avoid him.
Once again, I know this is all my fault and I don't want to villainize my boss. At the same time however I just didn't feel comfortable and I would prefer he would just scold me briefly and leave it at that.
Your boss crossing your boundaries is not your fault. Seek support to help you stand your ground. For this specific scenario, try saying, "I am not comfortable with this. We can speak later," and then end the call.
Last week I was pressured by male colleagues to "go fast", or else. In my case, my boss does understand my style (which is less shoot-from-the-hip and more thoughtful), but when the peer pressure is heavy it's still hard to stand my ground calmly and firmly.
I have severe insomnia following Long COVID which triggered perimenopause and was/is brutal. Good news here: After three and a half years of **horrible** sleep (oddly antihistamines helped, and I have no allergies; it's a body systems thing for some of us) ---- I started to get semi-decent sleep six months ago - it's been up and down, but it's trending better. Hang in there!
