What's really interesting is that we actually are developing a culture. I've been searching my memory for a case of a culture that derives from a medical condition, and this is genuinely unique as far as I can tell. As our numbers grow, this culture will eventually have some spillover into "mainstream" culture.

That's going to be interesting to see.

I can see why there'd be interest in such for people who have troubles that relate to the symptom list, and their more "glossed over" descriptions. With more knowledge, more people will know of this disorder.

Whether people have it or not is moot if they first see that it may explain why they've had the experiences that they had, and it may've been attributed to a previously unknown disorder.

I just say keep an open mind whether you think you have it or not at first sight, as it's a severe disorder.

The deaf and especially people with achondroplasia also developed their original culture. I saw some documentary movies in TV about dwarfs who have their meetings, special places where they can meet other low people.

In my opinion, AS awareness seems to be trendy with the media at the moment but AS itself really can't be trendy. You can't change it like a shirt.

I feel that ANTM has made people aware of it, but AS is far from trendy.

There are some people who will associate AS with the Virginia Tech/Northern Illinois shootings, when it hasn't even been proven if the gunmen even had it. I am more likely to associate that type of behavior with schizophrenia than AS, though.

I found that extremely funny. Those obsessed with vinyl know what the OP means :)
