I just love it when people wish me "Happy Holidays". I never imagined so many people would be in agreement to my Happy Holiday celebration of Stalin's Birthday on December 21.

i used to dread family gatherings partly because i felt weird and also of the hostility, i think we tried (cousins and others) to endure each other due to our grandma. now a days i don't subject myself to those kinds of torture

I think I'm going to have a nervous breakdown when I have to get together with people who don't get along with each other, people who are critical of me and each other, people who don't understand that my meds and seizures make me oh...so...sleeeeepy.

Most of them drink, too. I don't.

Last Christmas my kids and I visited my EX MIL. I was guilt tripped for many years until I gave in. I thought I would lose my mind. I have given myself permission to never, ever go back.

We went to Disneyland.

Disneyland is horrible. Noise, noise, noise. And crowds. Nowhere private or quiet. It's what hell is like, if there is one.

Thanks for reminding me.

Loathe holidays.
Used to like them because it meant day(s) off from school (and having to get up early), and that I'd get gifts. Nowadays, I'm long past compulsory school attendance & if I want something I can get it for myself (don't need to wait for someone else to give it to me as gift).

Every day is valuable to me (now)-you never know which day might be your last, so I (try to) celebrate each moment for what it is, and that I'm still a living being. Am neither mystical nor religious, merely aware of the tenuousness & fragility of life, how one assumes one has a lot of time ahead-yet that may not turn out to be the case.
I keep my Xmas lights up year-round, why wait for some externally conferred occasion to enjoy myself ?

I enjoy visiting my family for a couple days around Christmas. I mainly go to visit with my eldest family members. I realize they won't be around for very much longer and I know it makes them happy to see me. I especially find it valueable to talk to my elders on my AS side of the family to find out some of the issues that they experience.

When I was a kid, we went to Disney World and were on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride when it broke down. Spent an hour stuck in a little boat listening to them sing "Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum." The repetition probably would have been comforting to me if it hadn't been for all the other people trying to talk over it.

I do very little for the holidays.
The main problem is that i have to work all but 2 holiday days of the year.
Once in a while i do manage to get 1 of those days off wich i'm very happy about.
Mostly though those are the busyest days at work so i have to work much harder during holidays.
So the association with working your ass off whilst others have fun is why i usually curse at the holidays.
I get 2 weeks off per year during wich i go on vacation though wich is awsome and i cherish.
Sigh dreams about the schoolyears with 7-8 weeks off and another as many weeks spread thoughout the year
Sigh i really need a different job, so i can enjoy them like most people.

Since I live by myself, I find the holidays to be a lonely time, and get depressed. I used to be really excited about Christmas and Easter, but not so much now.

I am looking forward to Towel Day though!

holidays are for every one else. i have a hard time ignoring the idea that the calendar and holidays are entirely artificial and man-made.

i see them as a waste of time and money and i have a real problem with frivolous traditions like killing a tree for jesus.

i will confess that i do like easter because coloring eggs is fun and i am addicted to cadbury mini eggs and jesus does his thing.

my birthday is in the month of august, the only month without an official holiday. during this month, i have a merry bexxmas party for all my friends. everyone brings a gift and we play dirty santa.

even bexxmas can get old sometimes. i almost didn't show up at my own party last year because i couldn't handle the expectations and the attention. i am hosting it this year so i will have to attend it.

I did as a child but not anymore. No one in the family has much money anymore and it makes them depressed. :(

I'm very religious, and I try to treat religious holidays as religiously as possible. On major holidays like Christmas and Easter, I prefer to try and find a traditional Latin mass or an Eastern Catholic Liturgy to attend, because they're smaller and pretteir.
I can't stand big family get-togethers, period and especially not at holidays.
I get so disappointed when holidays don't go exactly as I hope that I've kind of given up on secular traditions, to an extent that annoys my wife for the sake of our kids. Actually, we're kind of criss-crossed on thesecular traditions. For example, she doesn't like Santa Claus, but I love the idea of Santa Claus, whereas I hate Easter egg hunts and she loves 'em.

My favorite way to spend my birthday is zoned out at a video game or listening to music, especially now that I'm married, because it's one of the few times my wife will let me get away with it

When I was at school the holidays used to just fly by and the term time used to drag, although at school during christmas I always had fun as I was involved in theatrial productions every year and had parties when I was at junior school and discos when I was at senior school.

When I worked with my dad selling cake to different shops, hotels and resturants certain cakes seemed popular at certain times of the year especially profitteroles which were popular at weddings in the summer and at christmas time. I did this job for six years. At one time we did get as far as Swansea, back in 1997 .

Every year and christmas and easter my friend who also has asperger syndrome and I met up on Good Friday and go to the fair at Victoria Park in Bath and usually the Saturday before christmas we meet up for a meal and exchange presents.

The only reason we celebrate any holiday is because I enjoy seeing my children happy and watching the look on their faces. If they weren't here at all, I most certainly would not do most holidays.

I refuse to get together with family outside of my husband and kids. I cannot keep it together with them around. They are horrible horrible people.
