i have difficulties getting to sleep sometimes , but it really is when im worried about something which is understandable. But i find that if , lets say i get up at 7 , by about 2 or 3 i will be soooo tired but by like 9 at night , my mind will become slightly hyper all night, untill like 3 in the morning but i have an idea that maybe my body when it becomes so tired it releases some chemicals or something...i dunno ...maybe..maybe not...

but also i find i become LOADS MORE CREATIVE at night time , i feel i can work better then, i start to paint and draw and make until the early hours sometimes.

i also have such imaginative dreams... i also get LOASD AND LOADS OF IDEAS about artwork and stuff......when i close my eyes , my mind and imagination go wild....weird..

I had problems falling asleep since I can remember my self. When I was a kid it was hell, I would stay in bed trying to sleep for hours...and then had to wake up early to go to class, my insomnia was even worse at high school, I would fall asleep around 3:00 and wake up at 6:30 I had problems concentrating in class and anger issues because of that plus my AS symptoms were getting worse.
At college it wasnt that much of a problem, I enjoyed staying awake surfing or reading a book, plus I took late classes so I wasnt so tired (I would sleep at 3:00-4:00).
Its four months since I finshed college and I have no obligations until September, when my MSc starts, so I have an excuse for sleeping everyday at 5:00-6:00 which is too much, very unhealthy. My body has get used to and its very hard to sleep earlier.

Suffering? f*** that! Being nocturnal is bomb. My 2 favorite times of the day are late late at night and crack of dawn early in the morning, because no one is up but yourself. Anyone else feel this way?

I also feel this way, but it helps that I'm super sensitive to light. Almost all my jobs have always been night jobs where possible.

This accurately describes my youngest years through college, right down to how I scheduled classes. I LOVED grad school because all the classes were in the evening.

Is anyone taking zolpidem? I am taking it because my insomnia causes problems with my night dialysis treatment. it's compounded by RLs & restlessness & then i toss & turn ofen which makes the dialyss machine give off alert beeps & stop the dialysis function for the time of the alerrt.
I go very late to bed at home 2-3-4 am mostly...Night dialysis starts 9 pm...... the other patient wants lights off from 10.30 Pm on.... So must not read till 1 pm or so... & no TV available
But i am insomniac at home too- or do i just have a different daily rhythm?
A web site says that AS related insomnia is due to anxieties but I do not feel anxieties...

I sleep quite well though i used to have alot of problems winding down at night. I also need lots of sleep and get tired by 3-4pm usually. Though i rally around 7pm and wake up a bit.
I too agree that dawn is the best time. Gorgeous and peaceful with nobody else awake in the whole world(or so it seems) i love it. But rarely get up early enough to see it. :(
