lemme tell ya a story- when i was an early teen a long time ago, i used to flap my hands and [to a lesser extent] my arms- i guess they call that "gesticulating"- in an animated manner when trying to relate information to people who asked me questions [not too many of 'em, mainly teachers]- these folk did not take kindly to this behavior. one grabbed my hands and forcibly restrained me while glaring at me- sheesh, what an overreaction. lots of bad teachers in our american school system, IMO.
btw, i seem to have moved out of the hand-flapping mode [not criticising you] when i became a young adult. but i suspect that if i were really stressed-out it would return just like certain of my physical illnesses return when i get stressed. so you are no weirder than i am in this respect. but just the same, if one is weird, one should be proud of it and let their weird freak flag fly [coming from a neohippie]- we all are the way our maker made us- no getting around this.

My voice is so monotonous that I constantly get comments about it. I also have a bad southern American accent, so that really makes me sound quite different from the norm.

It's really hard to tell what my "real" speaking voice is, and I think about it often, since speaking is a big part of my job and I try to be consistent. Mostly I end up imitating the accent and inflections of either the person I like best/interact with most often, or just the person I am talking to at the moment, provided that I do not dislike that person.

I am a very good mimic of accents and speech patterns, and when I was little I often spoke like a radio or tv host, or like a "little professor" which is what the other kids said to make fun of my super-clear enunciation and vocabulary.

Sometimes people do ask why I am suddenly speaking in a funny accent; my boyfriend is especially wary of my switching accents from standard American, to British, to urban, to California-surfer etc., during the course of a single conversation. I don't think it's a big deal and he should just let me be :-). It's ok to be a little weird, and plus it's entertaining!

Ladies and gentlemen, my speaking voice:

I think I am quite a fast talker and a bit lazy/slurry sounding. I'm not sure if it's monotone or not, is it? My mum thinks it can be sometimes.

I love your accent.. Are you from the north of england by any chance?

From what I think, it is a little last kinda like me when I'm in a really talkative mood or when i'm explaining alot of things but I don't realise that i'm doing it.

I wouldn't say i'm a loud person but from what I can see, you seem pretty interesting to be around.. :D

YouTube video for you guys to judge... Sorry it seemed a little awkard, first vlog of my life...

I think you have a pleasant voice, superboyian. Then again, I'm American, so I tend to think all people with English accents sound pleasant.

It sounds slightly monotonous, but much less so than mine. I don't think it sounds very stuffy at all. It sounds slightly high-pitched, but I actually think that men with higher-pitched voices sound better than men with lower voices. Probably because I hang out with my dad and brother all the time and they have higher-pitched voices. :)

All in all, I think you'd do great doing the voice for your own radio show!

Thanks IR :D Yea it kinda does but it does even more when i'm definitely unsure what I was talking about especially in that video...
You do realise i'm 18 and the fact that for some reason and in my opinion i'm pretty glad my voice isn't very deep.

My own radio station I was definitely joking about.. But since you said that, I might actually seriously consider thinking about that idea.

Here is my latest youtube video that I did about valentines day... Again, slightly awkard but I feel that this one is better. :D

I have different speaking styles. It depends on my mood. Most of the time I have pressure of speech. Basically I speak very quickly, speaking a mile a minute. Sometimes during my calmer periods I do slow down, but not as slow as my brother's walking speed. I put a lot of emotion in my speech, sometimes its exaggerated. I know this is usually the opposite of autism. My vocabulary is not very impressive during my speeches unless I am talking about my obsessions (such as psychology or current events) then I suddenly sound like an expert or even a genius! I get very technical at that point. People are amused at that. They go into shock. Outside of my knowledge subjects, my vocabulary level drops significantly to about a 5 year old level. Its day and night. That amount of difference. During the times of extreme stress and pressures surrounding me, loud noises sensory overload, then I even get disorganized at that point but most of the time still retain making sense. I just jump rapidly from subject to subject, sometimes with no connections to each idea, in psychology terms, "loosening of associations." Other times I speak amazingly beautifully. Totally logical and connected. So yeah, I have different speaking styles and can't help the way I am. I also have a New York accent even though I never went to New York. My dad is from there though. I remember a long time ago that people couldn't understand me because my accent was so strong, but thankfully it has lessened.

I usually speak in a quite monotone. Sometimes I think that freaks me out more than it does other people. But then again, I'm not good at reading people so who knows... I have found that I 'emote' more when giving a prepared speech, but that's because I actually practice it.

Some aspects of how you present are somewhat similar to how I was when I was a lot younger (a teenager).

I enjoyed putting a face to the name and hearing about your different speaking styles. thank you.

Well mine is usually a deep voice but sometimes if in the mood it can be high pitched. Most of the time I talk slow but when im feeling extra energetic I can talk somewhat fast for a few seconds. I try to get better at the tone & pitch of my voice. I tend to speak low and people ask alot of times "what did you say?"

My son is very exactly like. I don't know. It's similar to some kids but different. I just can't explain. Last week he said, "There is another boy in my class who talks just like me." I asked, "How does he talk?" My son replied, "He talks a little high like me and just like me. I don't know how exactly. So very cute

My vocal idosichnaricies:

-I have to concentrate on what I'm saying or I start to stammer.
-My voice gets shrill and squeaky when I get excited.
-Fluctuating in pitch monotones
