You are concerned with a proper argument?

It is opinion that someone is born gay

Show me otherwise then. You won't be able to find a paper which properly demonstates otherwise.

I expect life to be put ahead of lifestyle choice.

So it's only an opinion if it contradicts what you hold to be true.

As I said--nonsensical bigot.

So rather than reading what I have to say, you take my argument out of context. How about this - to put it in the crude terms you seem to be limited to understanding - why should someones right to shove their weener up anothers arse be prioritised over the educational and other opportunities of people on the spectrum? Because this is what has happened. I am certainly not happy to pay the price for it.

As bigots often do, you're missing the point completely.

Your opinions are truth, right? Homosexuality IS a lifestyle choice--why didn't you go out of your way to make sure everyone understands that THAT, too, is merely an opinion? And a less justifiable one at that!

Oh, bigots.

Poke, you could just as easily define adult Asperger's as "wanting to be of service to others" because so many HFA and AS people do just that. They want to make a difference in the world and contribute in a positive way to the betterment and enrichment of mankind. Your presentation of autistics is a bit one sided and relies solely on textbook criteria originally meant to diagnose children who haven't had time to grow and gain experience.

Why yes, of course I chose to be gay. It was so much easier than having traditional relationships, children, and social acceptance. I mean, heck, being homosexual wins me so many wonderful perks that I thought I would throw in Asperger's as well, so that I could just kick back and let all that love come flowing my way....

Oh, bigots.

How about you answer my question, rather than coming up with endless ad homs. Homosexuality, given there is no proof otherwise, has to be considered to be a lifestyle choice. Until (or more like if) they can prove otherwise, it should be treated as such. These are the rules which pretty much every other group which demands special accomodations from society is expected to abide by, why should homosexuals get special treatment?

The only argument you are capable of giving it seems goes on the lines of "society says - therefore it is true". Can you think for yourself? Apparently not.

It wins you an excuse, rather than actually recognising and addressing your difficulties. Which is why a lot of AS people happen to claim to be gay.

I think all the dick kind of puts it beyond the realm of a "claim."

Oh, and I think I recognize all of my difficulties all too well.

And another thing... I do counseling for a recovery program, so I think I can handle addressing said difficulties.

Oh I am not arguing directly against gay rights - I have no direct objection to most of it. What I object to is how their rights have become ahead of our rights, as disabled (or "disabled") people. Their difficulties are a property of their own choices (someone does not have to announce that they are gay in a job interview for instance) as opposed to our own. How have their opportunities in effect become ahead of our own?

As a direct result of the strong advocacy; it is as simple as that.

Quote:
This is the fundemental problem, gay rights have come at our expense.

I see no evidence that this is the case. In fact the contrary is more consistent with the evidence.
Quote:
re did this whole "gay culture" came from. Did Abraham leave it behind after his session being stoned on the mountain? It is a religion, for all intents and purposes.

It is not a religion for all intents and purposes and claiming it is makes you appear as though you do not comprehend the meaning of the word "religion".

Quote:
Really you have missed the point here. Society becomes more and more progressive each year (we are in a rather unequal society at present). However, there is a limit in how much progress that can be made each year, the limiting factor being how much stomach certain people have for equality. This progress is in effect the "equality pie". The reality is that there is a competition for progress and I would rather that the segment of the pie which is going to gay rights be spent instead on disabled rights. That is all.

Actually progress begets progress, often in an exponential manner. The fact is, significant numbers of homosexual people got off their chuff while Autistic people simply did not do the same in sufficient numbers or in a sufficiently effective manner. We would be no further ahead without homosexual rights, and would probably be further behind moving into the future, as ideas about diversity introduced in pursuit of homosexual rights can in many instances be applied to our benefit, and their model of self advocacy is useful to any group pursuing equality.

As for your opinion that homosexuality is a life style choice, frankly it does not matter a whit. I do not recall choosing my sexuality personally, so maybe it is only homosexuals who get this magical choice and they just like to make their own lifes difficult (or perhaps it is all a conspiracy to allow them to advocate for their rights so that they can use up all the equality and thus prevent you, their real target, from having any rights). Either way, I see no reason why if someone made such a choice they should be deprived of ordinary rights that others who also make life choices retain.

I am not defining Asperger's at all. I am arguing against what you might call the "over definition" of Asperger's.

My whole point is that any statement that includes the words that's not Asperger's (in that order) is to be taken with skepticism.

the only way someone's rights come at your expense is if you don't believe everyone deserves the same rights. i think you're upset that homosexuals are getting more press than you are.

yes, FA, people are born gay.
homosexuality is not a lifestyle choice any more than your autism is.

i don't need to be gay to know this, and let's hope someone doesn't need to be autistic to know that your autism is not a lifestyle choice either.

dyingofpoetry
, i'm sorry you have to put up with homophobic remarks here. if i were a moderator, i wouldn't tolerate it.

and i have not missed your point, FA; you won't tolerate discrimination, unless you yourself believe the class of people against whom you are discriminating deserve it.

Zuckerberg runs the biggest social networking site on earth, has no interest in maintaining users' privacy, and shows no signs of being autistic, that i am aware of. i'm speaking from a place of logic, and as i said, i am not interested in semantics games.

"sociopathic" came from earlier in the conversation. by "semantics games" i mean implying that what i have said is inaccurate because you can find a hole in it, or a meaning i did not intend which you can exploit, etc. i'm not interested. i'm really not here for argument; there is a difference between trolling and intelligent, respectul debate, a line that i think both you and FlyingAeroplane have crossed.

You heard it here first, young Aspies--you aren't capable of founding a website like Facebook. Don't even try. It's not in your nature.

(Really though, how do you get from Zuckerberg runs the biggest social networking site on earth, has no interest in maintaining users' privacy, and shows no signs of being autistic, that i am aware of to he's obviously not autistic? Quite the quantum leap in logic there.)

Oh but it is in some of their natures since some Aspies have an affinity for Information Technology and excell at that.

Are people with synaesthasia banding together and asking for special dispensation? Asides people with synaesthasia would not research which might show it was a lifestyle choice, are they now?

I'm with you. It has become obvious that FA is only arguing for attention. I'm not providing any more of that.
