Here's another song that reminds me of my AS:

"Imaginary" by Evanescence

I linger in the doorway
Of alarm clocks screaming, monsters calling my name
Let me stay where the wind will whisper to me
Where the raindrops as they're falling tell a story

[Chorus]
In my field of paper flowers and candy clouds of lullaby
I lie inside myself for hours and watch my purple sky fly over me

Don't say I'm out of touch with this rampant chaos
Your reality
I know well what lies beyond my sleeping refuge
The nightmare I built my own world to escape

[Chorus]

Swallowed up in the sound of my screaming, cannot cease for the fear of silent nights
Oh, how I long for the deep-sleep dreaming, and the goddess of imaginary light

[Instrumental]

[Chorus]

[Instrumental]

"I am a rock" Simon & Garfunkle

A winter's day
In a deep and dark December;
I am alone,
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I've built walls,
A fortress deep and mighty,
That none may penetrate.
I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain.
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

Don't talk of love,
But I've heard the words before;
It's sleeping in my memory.
I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died.
If I never loved I never would have cried.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me;
I am shielded in my armor,
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb.
I touch no one and no one touches me.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

And a rock feels no pain;
And an island never cries.

Devo--Out of Sync...this was chosen for me by someone else a long time ago(first long-term boyfriend..and he meant it in a derogatory way.), but I like it and it basically fits...
the version I found was already in all caps.....
I have posted this before on similar threads...

SHE'S OUT OF SYNC
AND EVERYONE AROUND HER
KNOWS THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG
SHE'S OUT OF SYNC
SHE'S GOT ALL THE SYMPTOMS
OF A GIRL WHO SKIPPED A BEAT
SHE'S OUT OF SYNC
A PIECE OF ANCIENT HISTORY
SHE'S A WALKING MIRAGE
SHE'S OUT OF SYNC
SHE ENTERED THROUGH THE EXIT
AND NEVER STOPPED TO THINK
SHE'S OUT OF SYNC SHE'S A HALF STEP BEHIND
SHE'S OUT OF LUCK HER BODY SPLIT FROM HER MIND
SHE'S OUT OF ORBIT SHE'LL NEVER CONNECT
SHE'LL RUN OUT OF TIME BEFORE SHE ACCEPTS SHE'S OUT OF SYNC
SHE'S OUT OF SYNC ---- (SYNC)
SHE'S OUT OF SYNC ---- (SYNC)
SHE'S OUT OF SYNC
AND EVERYBODY SENSES
THERE'S A DISTANCE TO KEEP
SHE'S OUT OF SYNC
AND TOTALLY COMMITTED
TO LIVING IN A DARK AGE
SHE'S OUT OF SYNC
SHE'S CONSTANTLY UNDOING
WHAT'S ALREADY BEEN DONE
SHE'S OUT OF SYNC
TRAPPED IN A SILENT MOVIE
AND SHE'S ON THE BRINK
SHE'S OUT OF FOCUS
SHE'S A WARP IN TIME
SHE'S DISCONTINUED
A BREAK IN THE LINE

Strange, I was gonna say "I Am A Rock" also. I used to listen to that song on repeat. If it's on the radio I will want to hear the whole song.

I still don't know that I am autistic but I can sure relate to a lot of it.

I've always had a lot of empathy, though. So, I don't know.

I heard this one recently and it may just be a claustrophobia song but still...

Crowds by the Angry Angles

My hands they shake,
My nerves they break,
I'm shattered now,
I'm going down.
I need a drink,
So I can think,
My hands they shake,
My nerves they break,
Stop staring at me!
Stop staring at me!
Stop staring at me!
Your ugly face,
Is in my space,
The air you breathe,
Belongs to me,
I need a drink,
So I can think,
I sit alone,
Then I crawl home,
Stop staring at me!
Stop staring at me!
Stop staring at me!

Radiohead. "I Can't". To me this describes the post meltdown regrets perfectly......

Please forget the words that I just blurted out.
It wasn't me, it was my strange and creeping doubt.
It keeps rattling my cage, and there's nothing in this world will keep it down.

Even though I might, even though I try, I can't
Even though I might, even though I try, I can't.

So many things that keep, that keep me underground.
So many words that I, that I can never find.
If you give up on me now, I'll be gutted like I've never been before.

Even though I might, even though I try, I can't
Even though I might, even though I try, I can't.

If you give up on me now, I'll be gutted like I've never been before.
Even though I might, even though I try, I can't
Even though I might, even though I try, I can't.
Even though I might, even though I try, I can't
Even though I might, even though I try, I can't.

When I'm feeling beligerent and angry and frustrated then the song that goes on in my head is "Spasticus (Autisticus)" by Ian Dury and the Blockheads. It's a vitriol filled attack on the smug neuro-typicals of the world. The final refrains of "I am Spasticus" are shouted out by each member of the band in a fashion reminiscient of "I am Spartacus". And if this is not an anger filled anthem or a lyrical battle standard for all non-normals of the world THEN IT BLOODY WELL SHOULD BE.

(Some of you may find the lyrics upsetting or down-right insulting, but trust me, you have really got to see Ian Dury do this song live to see what he is getting at.... It's probably on youtube somewhere. FYI, if you;ve not heard of Ian Dury - he was an old punk rocker who was crippled as a kid by Polio. This song is about his anger/dismay at the insults and attitudes levelled at him when he was out and about on his crutches and leg braces.)

I'm spasticus, I'm spasticus
I'm spasticus autisticus
I'm spasticus, I'm spasticus
I'm spasticus autisticus
I'm spasticus, I'm spasticus
I'm spasticus autisticus

I wibble when I piddle
Cos my middle is a riddle

I'm spasticus, I'm spasticus
I'm spasticus autisticus
I'm spasticus, I'm spasticus
I'm spasticus autisticus
I'm spasticus, I'm spasticus
I'm spasticus autisticus

I dribble when I nibble
And I quibble when I scribble

Hello to you out there in Normal Land
You may not comprehend my tale or understand
As I crawl past your window give me lucky looks
You can be my body but you'll never read my books

I'm spasticus, I'm spasticus
I'm spasticus autisticus
I'm spasticus, I'm spasticus
I'm spasticus autisticus
I'm spasticus, I'm spasticus
I'm spasticus autisticus

I'm knobbled on the cobbles
Cos I hobble when I wobble
Swim!

So place your hard-earned peanuts in my tin
And thank the Creator you're not in the state I'm in
So long have I been languished on the shelf
I must give all proceedings to myself

I'm spasticus, I'm spasticus
I'm spasticus autisticus
I'm spasticus, I'm spasticus
I'm spasticus autisticus
I'm spasticus, I'm spasticus
I'm spasticus autisticus

54 appliances in leather and elastic
100 000 thank yous from 27 sp****cs

Spasticus, spasticus
Spasticus autisticus
Spasticus, spasticus
Spasticus autisticus
Spasticus, spasticus
Spasticus autisticus

Widdling, griddling, skittling, diddling,
fiddling, diddling, widdling, diddling spasticus

I'm spasticus, spasticus
Spasticus autisticus
Spasticus, spasticus
Spasticus autisticus
Spasticus, spasticus
Spasticus autisticus

Spasticus, spasticus
Spasticus autisticus

I'm spasticus!
I'm spasticus!
I'm spasticus!
I'm spasticus!
I'm spasticus!
I'm spasticus!
I'm spasticus!
Spasticus!

My Dad (no doubt an Aspie himself but no dx) got me into Pink Floyd.

Other songs of theirs I like are "wish you were here" and "shine on you crazy diamond."

Comfortably Numb (Gilmour, Waters) 6:49

Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone at home?
Come on, now,
I hear you're feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again.
Relax.
I'll need some information first.
Just the basic facts.
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.

O.K.
Just a little pinprick.
There'll be no more aaaaaaaaah!
But you may feel a little sick.
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working, good.
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go.

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown,
The dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.

Irrational Number, Paul Nordquist
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iqVyjOv8X0[/youtube]
If you feel like you got to do something irrational
Like learning a skill you can never apply
We can sing you a song that's completely irrational
A sweet little number we like to call Pi

It's a whale of a song, so we'll just do part one
If you want, sing along! It's irrational fun
Tell your friends they should give it a try
It's easy as...

Vessel by Glue. I don't identify with the parents and how they treat "him", but it's more in regards to how everyone treated me in the past. How I...don't feel human, just a robot, that supposedly has no feelings.
