Hi all,

My book, Harmonic Feedback, has finally been unleashed onto the world. You can order it online at any of the major chains--amazon, BN, Borders..or better yet your local indie! (http://indiebound.org) It's not a book about vampires or werewolves, so the major chains are being slow at ordering for their shelves--you can definitely ask them to order it though!

Please visit my site for more information: http://harmonicfeedback.com

Here's the synopsis:

Sixteen-year-old, music- and sound design-obsessed Drea doesn’t have friends. She has, as she’s often reminded, issues. Drea’s mom and a rotating band of psychiatrists have settled on “a touch of Asperger’s.”

Having just moved to the latest in a string of new towns, Drea meets two other outsiders. And Naomi and Justin seem to actually like Drea. The three of them form a band after an impromptu, Portishead-comparison-worthy jam after school. Justin swiftly challenges not only Drea’s preference for Poe over Black Lab but also her perceived inability to connect with another person. Justin, against all odds, may even like like Drea.

It’s obvious that Drea can’t hide behind her sound equipment anymore. But just when she’s found not one but two true friends, can she stand to lose one of them?

Thanks for the support! It was my hope to humanize AS with my main character, instead of making her a box of symptoms.

Totally understand! There are a couple contests going on right now where you can win a copy:

And my literary agent is also holding one:

Thanks so much for the comments! But I'm afraid I must say goodbye.

The owners of this site have banned me without warning or reason. I've supported and talked about this site to my readers, and my book is coming out with a major publisher--so it will have a wide audience. I even referred readers to this website on my author's note page. So I'm not sure why I'm being treated this way.

I apologize if I've offended anyone, but I was just trying to get the word out about my book, which is a story I think many members on here will relate to. It wasn't as if I posted in every forum or spammed it everywhere..so again, not sure what I've done wrong here.

ehhh, checked it out.

what seemed at first to be a contest involved such a tedious amount of extra steps in the form for submission, that i didn't even bother.
I love reading and all, and the fact that it has a main character with AS sorta naturally appeals to me because i also have AS, but i don't even know if it's even that great. All i have is the promise of a fictional character who i may possibly vaguely identify with. There is no precedent on which i may even judge your writing style or ability to even begin to guess at whether i may like this book. & yet for a simple contest submission, it's asking me to commit by binding myself to the site in order to even be considered. To follow/subscribe my blog account you yours. To advocate your cause on twitter. & to leave comments on your review/interview, etc, in a deceptive and shameless attempt at self-promotion. The contest is promotion in itself, cramming mandatory promotional practices down my throat in the submission process just seemed vaguely insulting to my intelligence & a bit of overkill :? .
But that's just my opinion.

& hey, in this day and age with the economy going down the poophole, whatever works, right? :)
even if i'm personally not inclined
still wishing you best of luck on your sales pitch

It's not my contest. It's a contest a reader/fan of my book is holding. I was just passing the word on to people who can't otherwise afford new books. Also, I believe all you have to do is comment on either the review of my book or interview and fill out a form entering yourself into the contest. Following me on twitter, posting about it on a blog, etc are all just ways to earn extra entries, not mandatory for the contest.

As for not being able to read my book online, there are excerpts up on Amazon, BN, and every major book site. I'm not going to provide a link since that doesn't seem to go over too well here. But feel free to look it up if you feel so inclined.

I thought the people on this site might appreciate a story about a girl with AS. I have ADHD myself and my brother is autistic...so it's not as if I'm a stranger to all of this or have no place here outside my book. If I knew it would cause such a negative reaction and folks have no interest in reading that kind of thing here, I never would have bothered. Live and learn, I guess.

it's not that i have no interest in reading it, i do, i just simply had no love of that contest entry form  . It stacks the odds inordinately out of favor for the average joe who doesn't wish to entangle themselves that deeply into someone else's networking system. On one hand if you simply want to enter without doing anything else, you get +1 entry. If you go through everything, you get +30 entries. their individual chance compared to mine is in favor of them 30:1. Not to mention what the collective chance of everyone else's would be against mine overall. It's potentially staggering. I might as well drop a penny down a well & wait for a book copy to drop from the sky :P

& by the way, just for the sake of correctness, actually kind of is at least partially your contest isn't it :? ? I mean in light of that alot of the prizes are actual signed items & that you donated them to the contest. Therefore you're essentially the one who made that prizes possible. Plus it's with your knowledge & presumably your consent that this contest is going through. I mean, aren't there copyright laws concerning distribution & this kind of thing? ...okay, just checked, & through a loophole called "first sale doctrine," they actually can distribute your copies for free or even resell them themselves as long as it was paid for originally in the bookstore. But as soon as books go digital like with eBooks that's starting to come out, it'll prolly go the way of music, and pirating in the industry will become as big a problem as it is already beginning to become with movies, and only to obviously already is with music. But that's getting off-topic. Bottom line is that if you're going to promote a contest that promotes your product sporting prizes that could only have come from you, it's really not as clear that it's not really your contest if even just a little, despite that you're not personally running it. & yes, i love debating things :)

Oh, & thanks for telling me about the excerpts, i'll be sure to check those out :)
