Only for those who live in a shallow world and are caught up in the cogs of society and the mundane.

I think HB has a point that it could be xenophobic, unless the community was adjacent to an average sized town. I used to drive by the scientology headquarters in Gilman Hot Springs, CA on a semi-regular basis and I've seen how an isolated private community can go terribly wrong.

jc6chan, did you envision it as an isolated community? I did not take the OP's suggestion as some far-flung village in the Yukon territory-- I thought it would be in some large metropolitan area (because I assume that most of these people are independent anyways and have jobs).

i think'd be pretty cool.

just sorta establish an Aspie town somewhere?
sort of like how the Mormons have staked out certain areas in Utah?

it's sort of amusing to picture a town consisting mostly of, and pretty much run by, aspies :P .
aspie schools, aspie stores marketing to aspie marketing niches. basically a semi-autistic mecca of sorts

We'd all be too busy, posting on WrongPlanet, to come out and interact with each other, in person.

Obviously aspies would require less or no care supervision at all. What I like about that community is that everyone has a job and purpose, a safe living environment, their own laundry, dairy, bakery and produce gardens as well as arts/craft workshops and retail shop.
There is a doctors surgery which is also open to residents of the local community so it is not completely closed to the outside world. I would remove any religious obligations as I think that is a personal choice for each community resident to make.

I just like the idea that you can go out to the shop or art gallery without engaging in conversation or pretending to be socially comfortable and no one will judge you for it. In the shop one day, the guy on the till just abandoned his post and went outside to sing a song. That was perhaps his way of letting off steam on a stessful day - good for him. :)

They would need to relay huge broadband connection wires. :D

It would be like a dorm in a university (could be townhouse style if you want) where there would be a common area/lounge, a cafeteria, a reccreational centre, some rooms will have kitchens if you want to cook, and some rooms for meetups and interactions. I hope you get the idea?
It would most possibly be in a suburb if there is no spacing to build it in the city.

What about the possibility of taking over a dead or dying rust belt town?

I would love to live in an Aspie Community! No more fears of being judged negatively simply because I don't happen to follow the illogical, demanding and unspoken NT norms.

Oh yes! Take me there! Take me now!! !

I'd want it to be in a space station with artificial gravity orbiting the moon. There'd be a mansion (like the one from Drawn Together) and a hedge maze and we'd sometimes recieve electronic transmissions from earth.

Not only would that be awesome, it would also be the best animated sitcom ever. I wonder what NiN song would make the best theme song?

It wouldn't be that different from living with NTs. The differences are grossly exaggerated. That typed, I get irritated by people in general, and maybe they get just as irritated by me, so, I wouldn't see why living in a segregated community of any kind would be fun for me.

So there'd be a community of people that would never look each other in the eye or never talk one on one because of fear of starting a conversation? 8O

Well I'd rather think of it as a community where after we almost collide walking down the sidewalk because we both misread the others body language on our intended direction of travel, then one of us greets the other, who doesn't respond and neither one of us act like it was a personal attack.

Can you imagine the internet bandwidth an ASD community would require? 8O
