I think the main point that he is making is that he wants to have a family with children. that biological clock tics only for so long. I have two boys, 8 and 3, and I want a girl, but I'm not sure if I can handle another child. I'm 34(tic- toc, tic- toc, tic-toc) and anything 35 and older is concidered high risk and more likley to not be successful(tic-toc, tic -toc). That darn ol' biological clock. My husband is 41 and says that he is getting too old. I keep telling him that we are as old as we let ourselves feel. I still feel like a teenager, mentally. Phsically, my body, many times,lets me know that I am not anywhere near that.

I can understand the situation. I would also like to be a father eventually (but not until after I finish college, though).

All i know is that it is one of the bext things i have done. I only have one son and i have AS, but i really love being a parent. it is hard sometimes and it really can be difficult in the realm of how much tim ei need on my own, but it is great.

I wonder about those who ask aspergian_mutant why he wants a baby, I mean, if he had been a girl, I doubt he would have got that question? Or maybe I am just guessing wildly... but I think it's a funny question, to ask why, because isn't that a natural thing to want? (I'm not saying that people who don't want to are not natural).
Or maybe an aspie girl would have got that question more than an NT girl would?

I don't write this to criticize anyone, just my thoughts.
I often reflect on the question why people ask certain questions and not others, and in which situations or such.

I wondered why he wanted one (but didn't ask) because I have no CLUE why anyone would want to put themselves through such an enormous effort added to what is likely a difficult life as it is. But then again, I'm the sort of person who doesn't want love, doesn't want friends, and is never lonely.

Isn't the answer obvious? Its biological, its built into our DNA. Somewhere at the base level of our genetic structure there is a basic most primal instruction: the purpose of life is to perpetuate life by...having babies. This is the basic god-given right to the pursuit of happiness. The debate should really be about how and why our society/culture creates roadblocks for having and raising healthy babies and what can be done about it.
