I realised I was short with somepeople who I couldn't understand, and now somethings happened, and I understand them. I am sorry for not giving the support they deserve, it really is a horrible thing to go though.

Are you OK?

hale_bopp, before you beat yourself up too much, remember that if a person is truly needful, there will be several who recognize the need and many times one or more who have actually gone through the exact same thing. It's not up to one person to do everything. It's not up to one person to feel all the pain, either.

If you can share some specifics, maybe someone CAN be supportive.

Unfortunately, this thread is a really bad example of what I'm trying to say. Three pages of worthless crap that belongs in the PM system and no support from the community for someone who needs it. As a community, sometimes we just suck! I believe that is rare, however.

Can you give us another chance?

Yeah sorry for my part getting this thread off on a tangent.

In the past when I got offend by Hale_Bopp's post and had a meltdown. I began reading
alot of her old post to find out about her. I was shocked to find she said some nice
helpfull things to people. During my meltdown I notice that Hale_Bopp stopped posting
for many days I was hoping she had just went on vacation but I feared it had to be
me so I sent a PM and said I was sorry (and I was). I felt so good when she started
posting again. So hopefully she will make it though this. When I was depressed I felt
the greatest need to help the entire world. When I got stablised on Prozac I'm more of
the mind I would like to help a few people but know I'm not an expert on anything so
I'm not going to save the world and I'm not worrried about it. I like to see balance in
poster here: a little help, a lot of humor, a little hard edges (not a wussy like me I guess). I think Hale_Bopp fits that perfect.

A hale_bopp with her fires extinguished would be a boring, unappealing, unexciting hale_bopp. A castrated hale_bopp! A hale_not !

Uh.. not really.

Maybe to you, but not to people that know me in real life. I'm a total goofball offline. (when i'm not depressed).

I do not regret making this thread, and do not wish to change, update or alter anything I have said here. Anyone that feels they deserve an apology from me can take this as directed at them. Someone has made me feel like i'm not worth the ground I walk on, and I would hate to think i've ever made anyone feel like that, just because they have a lot of problems I don't understand.

Hale_bopp, perhaps you should try and reach some of the people who aren't here anymore and apologize to them. I don't know how you'd do that, but it might be a good idea to try...

"If we shadows have offended, think but this and all is mended..." If I had been offended, I'm not anymore, but I don't ever remember being offended, just a little bit shocked. But I'm glad you're back, hale. :)

I'm impressed that personal tragedy has turned your heart toward compassion. Weaker spirits turn to hate, vengence and cruelty. I have not always done so well as you.

Those people who are so keen to know everybody else's business only want to gossip about it among themselves.

I am sure that you have annoyed a few people, but I really doubt that you have ever made anyone feel like they were not worth the ground they walk on.

On occasion you have made a critical comment about something that a person said, yes that is true, but most or nearly all justifiable, and to make someone feel like they are not worth the ground they walk on, this requires more than a simple criticism anyway. It requires manipulating them and striking at their heart and finding their weakest points and using their emotions against them. You have not done any of that.

You said you hate fence sitters. I hope that you are not going to become one yourself, too afraid to say anything critical for fear of the effect. The point I am making is that saying something critical and offending someone, this is a different matter to making someone feel like they are not worth the ground they walk on.

Why do you tend to make such negative assumptions about people's motivations?

Is it a defense mechanism? Do you make the "safe assumption?"
