First time post! I haven't gotten any official diagnosis yet, but I suspect I might be Aspergoid.

I got 174 out of 200 for the Aspie side. It was abit more lopsided than I had thought it would be. :/

(Can't post an image with less than five posts. Lame.)

Curiously enough, on the autism spectrum, I fall under 28.

A friend of my father's (whom had an autistic child of her own) was the first to think I was autistic. My dad agreed, and was the first to tell me I might have Aspergers.

It was silly though; I brought it up again (15 years or so later) and he answered, "Oh, don't you grow out of that?"

You DON'T grow out of it. You just learn to pretend to. Many Aspies go undiagnosed because of it. ><

But you cannever know: I was almost a stereotypical Aspie when I was 6. The only difference is that I was obsessed with the Teletubies & Astronomy instead of Math & Physics.
No one knows if I'm an Aspie or not nowdays. No one ever will. I still have many sympthoms. That's why I'm here.

That's exactly right. Without even knowing I had it, I've managed to find ways to cover it up... It's only lately that since finding it again have I been able to make sense of myself. And I still hold many of the tell-tale traits... I'm just good at catching them.

But yes... It's almost like a dependency to research this condition to death. There were times when I'd rock myself back and forth in tears because I couldn't understand why life seemed so different for me. I've self-diagnosed myself with all the comorbids first before I finally got this far. But I don't want to self-diagnose anymore.

I just wish I could have at least a semi-professional guy look me in the eye and say "Yeah, you're an Aspie." That way I can finally feel abit validated. Bah...

I won't self-diagnose myself either, although I fit the DSM diagnosis....8O
I still won't be diagnosed cuz I'm no math savant.....& made 5 real friends. (But I do have school problems related to everything beyond my obsessions & noticing other's behavior...)

Classrooms are hellish for me. It eithr goes one of two ways:

Overstimulation-- Can't focus. Usually happens in a mildly raucous class. Constantly tuning into other peoples' conversations (be it loud or hushed) like a radio going haywire. People might be talking to me. I'm naturally forced to be congenial, and I respond. I have a hard time telling people to leave me alone.

Understimulation-- I get drowsy. Can't find enough to keep my attention, and so my senses begin to dim. I try to focus on the schoolwork at hand, but I don't care for it, so I can't. What's worse is when the teacher decides to slam my desk to wake me up. I have heart problems, and I would've really liked for a teacher to have done that and then watch me proceed to convulse in a heap on the floor.

A high school principal informed me I was "not dumb" but also "not good at school". I pondered the meaning and decided that he meant I was still smart, but not good at following an institutionalized system? I will admit, I do have problems with authority.
