I got back into it a few years ago; the variety of what is out there blew my mind. I used to dislike the cartoony character design and the frame rates as well, but the anime of the last ten years is just so interesting.

One I really like is called "Ergo Proxy" a futuristic series that begins in a dome city with a strictly controlled society: it's hard to know how much I can say without spoiling you. It's on Hulu if you want to check it out.

I like anime, Fullmetal Alchemist (Brotherhood) in particular. That show is so well made, it's extremely interesting, amazing story, good animation and sound. I also enjoy the obvious facial expressions, as they help me to understand what the characters are feeling, and this is a fairly depressing show so it's good to see the slight alterations in their emotions.

The big eyes too, I never minded that. Then again, my own eyes are massive too, so it's not surprising.

I actually bought an Ergo Proxy DVD last year and never watched it, so maybe I should if it's considered good.

I love anime, I got into it when I was seven and began watching Dragonball z.
I love sailor moon!! I have all the videos... yes, sailor mercury does show AS traits... curious 8O
My favourite is Dragonaball z, or fruits basket.
Fruits basket has a very sweet girl called Tohru in it. She looks like me! Also, a young boy named Momiji in it is just adorable!

Dragon Ball Z is the only anime show that I can say that I actually watch, or Pokemon " as a kid. "
Other than that I'm not into anime in general.

I use to like anime...but not anymore.

In fact to explain how American Culture has Destroyed My Appreciation for Anime is practically an essay for me.

But having to up with racial stereotyping..."oh I'm Asian so of course I would love anime"....and having nobody care that I'm an American born half Korean half white...plus having to do into how anime was great before this century when peeople were going nuts in the US about it and having anime marketed everywhere and influencing everything...I cant even watch Hayao Miyazaki anymore without even thinking how much America has practically raped everything that was once unique and special about East Asian culture. Now when I look up the latest animes on Cartoon Network...I cant tell which shows are real anime and which ones are American cartoons ripping off the format. I know The Boondocks is animated in Anime style but the show doesnt do the big mouth gimmicks or gags that are common with anime so it's passable to me but all of these other shows on Cartoon Network are making me gag. I havent listen to any of my anime soundtracks in a long time...except for one of the last animes I watch...Silver Fang...which is a talking dog anime but one that doesnt come off too anime like either.

There's also my experience in anime club. Pretty much got the short end of the stick in that club because it was full of white boys who were attracted to me. Most of the girls in that club were not straight so I felt very excluded and a bit of a misfit in that place.

Well yeah I cant tolerate what America has done...or people who tell me that they think that Asian girls like me are cool because over in Japan and such they like to dress all weird right? That's the kind of stuff I have to deal with and tell people to go to hell...I actually like our piggish American culture thank you very much! :P

I'm 28, female and have Asperger's. I like anime, but not for the reasons given by the OP.

For the record I'm white and British.

I study Japanese. I guess you could say Japan, specially Heian Japan is one of my many varied obsessions, and I've taught myself the language from scratch. Anime's been a part of that and I've gotten very fond of several series. I've also become a fan of the people who voice the characters and have followed up stuff they've done, so making it a bigger thing than just anime on its own. To me it's not something you can segregate from the whole manga/anime/seiyuu/drama/live event/etc phenomenon.

I have never ever looked at anime in terms of "big eyes = easy to understand facial expressions" or body language - but I was diagnosed as an adult and kinda learned those things from going through normal school, college, uni and now working in public service 25 hours a week. My interest is more in analysing the characters but I do that with pretty much anything - I'm hyperanalytical quite a lot of the time. (History grad >.>).

I would recommend Saiunkoku Monogatari as an intelligent anime with humour and Kyou Kara Maou as a very funny anime that bothers to have a plot.

Anime in English should be outlawed though >.> You lose about 50% of the meaning and plot from a dub.

I like many types of anime (if they're good), and here is one that I would recommend to most of the members of WP: Kaiba. It is an obscure anime about an amnesiac named Kaiba (or Warp; I haven't found any other episodes past episode 3 and some bits of episode 7) who lives in a world where people trade their own memories and bodies. Try to find subs of the anime; so far, there aren't any dubs. Oh, and Miyazaki movies are good, too! (I also like comedy animes; Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh are my favorites!)

I for the most part dislike anime. But Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away were enchanting.

I could care less about anime. It's too fake and I refuse to cave into that Asian stereotype.

You know I have a friend who has AS and his into Sonic the hedgehog (which I never admit in public that he is into that) he always shows me weird and odd clips of doctor eggman walking around talking to himself. I was into Dragon ball Z then I found it nerdy as I got older so I stopped with it. I kind of tell my cousin who draws anime that its so over used and over rated lol. Nothing ageist people who like but I just don't like it. o_o

I only like classic anime (the one of the 80s and 90s). My favorite series are Dragon Ball (the first and the Z, I´ve never seen GT), Gundam Wing, Rorouni Kenshin (known in Latin America as Samurai X), Digimon (1, 3 and 4), Trigun and recently I have been watching Cowboy Bepop and I´ve been enjoying it.

I don't know why, but I can´t stand the modern and popular anime, maybe I´m to obsessed with the classics (thing that is weird because I´m only 16 years old and I didn´t live the moment of many of those series XD)

I agree with many in the appreciation that the Anime has a bad frame rate, that's totally true, the only Anime piece that I saw that has an outstanding animation is the movie Akira. The western animation is way better, but the aspect where the Manga-Anime shines is in the quality and originality of most of their stories.

I don't know about other people with AS ( I have never met anyone else with it ), but I absolutely love anime/ manga. I always have and always will. Plus thanks to that I've been able to actually meet some nice people :D . Call me obsessed if you want, but I am perfectly happy loving anime, and will admit it freely any time!
