in the winter I do because of, well things like cold and snow
summer not so much, but usually I do out of habit
I am told this makes me unapproachable, which I don't really mind

I walk with my head down a lot. Especially when I'm thinking about something that isn't relevant to where I'm walking to.

Last time I checked, mine were attached to my ankles.

Yes, I tend to - not as bad as I used to be though since people made me aware I was doing it which I didn't realize. Now I only really do it in an extreme way when going up/down stairs for foot placement reasons :)

I certainly look down if by looking up (around? level?) I might catch someone's eye.

I used to look down when walking, but I got too many comments, and changed the habit. People said I didn't look confident with my head down among other things that I have now forgotten.

When I was younger I tended to walk that way, but I'd get people yelling stuff out their car windows and throwing things (like monkeys throwing poop), but I somehow figured out that standing straighter (eye line parallel to the ground) would help.

Thirty years later, I don't worry about it much, but I think people are too intimidated to mess with a 6'/195lb. 40 years old male person in such ways. Either that, or I'm completely off their radar.

I've wondered if it's a matter of reducing sensory overload. When you look at your feet the view is pretty 2-dimensional and simple, whereas when you look up there's depth involved and a lot more objects to take in.

Generally, I like how the floor looks. I just wish I could look at stuff I like and move comfortably while not making people think I'm an easy target.

i almost always walk with my head down. i know what's in front of me 90% of the time...so i do it mostly to avoid falling in a hole, or something. no signs to walk into out of town  .
