About UF4A
The Unconventional Foundation for Autism, UF4A for short, is a non-profit organization. The mission of UF4A is three fold: (1) to raise awareness and support for families afflicted with this mysterious and misunderstood condition known as Autism; (2) to raise funds for cannabis-based medical research and clinical trials; and (3) to campaign for a rescheduling of cannabis from Schedule 1 narcotic (no accepted medical benefits) to a lower schedule so that the appropriate research may be conducted, and so that all patients have access to medication. A listing on Schedule 1 is tantamount to a research blockade and, frankly, is unacceptable where millions continue to needlessly suffer and subject to criminal punishment should they choose to use cannabis under the direction of their physician. The Schedule 1 listing fails to reflect the prevailing medical view that cannabis has accepted medical benefits. UF4A is quickly becoming a leading advocate in the fight for nationwide investigation, research and analysis of the legalization of Medical Marijuana.
The partnership promises to advance the innovative medical autism research headed by Executive Director Mieko Hester- Perez. The Unconventional Foundation Autism’s partnership focus is to bridge the gap between parents, scientists, and medical professionals to provide a better quality of life for our children diagnosed with the misunderstood condition known as Autism.

I didn't sleep last night and I need to go for a while. This thread is really fishy and I hope it's locked or deleted by the time I get back to save me the trouble of pointing out what's wrong with it.

I'm in complete agreement with John.

I'm drawing people's attention to the article and asking for opinion, I don't work for UF4A or Cannabis Science Inc.
Cannabis for Autism is my fan page, I sell yoga, not pot nor autism services!
Fair 'nuff. Just telling you what it looks like. Looks can be deceiving.
IMHO, the whole idea is just plain stupid.
And I'm speaking from personal experience. Pot was the absolute WORST thing I ever did to "treat" my problems. All it did was make them all worse.
Doing FAR better now that I've quit. And I did it for fifteen years. Now it's been twenty without. Going back to it would be the dumbest thing I can possibly think of.

I feel this way about SSRIs since I quit them, though some people swear by them. *shrugs*

That's my point exactly, we should be allowed to try it without fear of arrest, and decide for ourselves whether or not it's working.
You did the right thing, as I credit all of us as being able to do if only we are trusted to make that choice.
If anything I am fighting to stop censorship of cannabis for autism, whether it works or not!
My suspicions had nothing to do with it being controversial. When someone, with a username like this, makes a post like this, especially when they haven't been a member all that long, it usually is spam to promote their own site. No, it's not always true, but I call them as I see them. I don't claim to be right all the time. I just hate spam enough to say it if I think that's what it is. Controversy, I have no problem with.

Where is the option for, "I don't care because this press release isn't about anything substantial whatsoever"?
I think most of us would be interested in something like a new study being started, or results from a study being released, and things like that. For my part, however, I see little reason to get excited about a press release announcing a partnership between a research group and a group which exists to promote that research (aka a marketing group).
You seem to be seeing something compelling in this press release - please, share with us. What is it in this press release that is supposed to interest us?

It says; "The partnership will focus on advancing the medical cannabis treatments for Autism in conjunction with the successful cannabis treatments of Joey and 10 other families that are now being documented by The University of California Irvine Medical Center (UCI) for the Foundation. "
Which means a new study has been done and is now being documented and it is a study of 10. Previously the only study was pure THC and only on one child.
This is the first, everything up until now has been anecdotal. Ten years of people treating autism with cannabis and it's only just come this far.
So for those who have been let down by existing medications and are seeking a new option, there is a new chance to look at cannabis as something other than a desperate measure!
The key here is good science v.s. woo woo new age magical crap.
If this initiative is willing to be proven wrong then some good might come of it. But if the goal is to show weed's magical benefits regardless of the evidence, then never mind.
I know smoking weed almost ruined my mind. I had a very atypical response. So I know from personal experience that it is not a cure for all that ails the autistic brain.

What strain would you grow??? If you need advices, you may want to go here Strain Hunters Btw, you don't need a big place to grow it. Search for SOG or ScrOG (sea of green or screen of green), if you have the balls, search BOG (box of green). You cut the space needed by 4 (by 8 with BOG) and still get the same amount maybe more! How many plants can you grow?
As for people who say it's not good for them. Can you precise what type of weed you tried??? Is it street canabis or legal cannabis? Their's as much difference between those two as Speed vs Ritalin for ADHD!! !
