So I was walking home today and I decided to stop thinking for a moment, relax my body, and just take in the world around me.

I noticed that this had a sort of calming effect, to take stimuli from all of my senses equally and at the same time.

My theory is that overstimation springs from the irritation of abnormal stimuli from one of your passive senses.

Any imput? Do you lead with one of your senses?

If the question is which of my five senses is most prominent, then it would be touch. My sense of hearing and sense of smell are not very good. My vision is good, and taste is good. But my sense of touch is pleasurable enough that running my hands along a smooth surface feels really nice.

Strange, isn't it? I find giving some mindfulness to my whole experience (even negative) somehow helps.

i can agree to this, but for me, my leading sense is my hearing; i can always fall back to that to know what is going on around me, and relaxing is done best with some good music, just closing my eyes and absorbing the sounds... lovely...

My hearing usually takes the lead.

Generally, my main processing sense is hearing followed by smell & touch & than sight (I only use taste while eating or occasionally when smelling air). Although, w/ the way the world is and my hypersensitivity to touch I'm forced to use my sight more than is preferable. My hearing tends to be overwhelmed quickly, so I've developed a filter. But if my tactile or olfactory senses are overstimulated I go nuts.
