It was loud and annoying though.

I gave it some thought, and here's my take. You know how sometimes little kids will say something, and grown-ups will laugh because they think the kid has no idea what he's talking about? Random example: 5-year old says "I don't like drama on television". Reaction: "Oh, aren't you adorable? Such big words you know!" Same here. "This is sad." - "Hahahaha! You're so cute!"

They're TV-personalities. They'll do whatever they can to manipulate their audience.
In this case they laugh loud to disguise an awkward situation,
and to block the kid from making any further criticism about the piece.

At least that's my interpretation.

I am guessing Graham doesn't have sensory issues because of the loud laughter and singing. Seems like anyone with sensory issues wouldn't be able to sit through it.

Or he just ate himself up inside. I know I'd be capable of doing so, especially if I knew the song was coming (though I admit he didn't flinch at all in response to the laughter, and I'm not sure I could've repressed that).

My impression was they were trying extra hard to be especially Christmasy.

I know I do. The setting would have been too bright, and too loud. And there's that horrid song... I skipped past it because it was giving me a migraine.

It reminded me of a song in a Walt Disney movie. The woman who sang it was in Broadway musicals.

Actually, I find the show itself nauseating. I never wacth it but I know it exists, The way it always sounds and looks, it looks like the mall, and worse. It probably smells gross too.

I have no idea why they laughed. I've replayed the laugh part three times and I'm still not sure. I may have said something like he did. I just realized may be because he made them feel unfcomfortable from saying or they thought it was funny that he said the truth. I can't imagine anyone listening to that song because they liked it.

I think they laughed because he said how he really felt about the song instead of doing what most NT's would do and pay the song a compliment he didn't really believe. It seemed like a "Isn't he cute?! Kids say the darndest things!" kind of deal. What's sad is that either they don't know or don't care how exploitive that whole segment was-let's take a kid who already probably feels pretty self-concious about his social issues and tell the whole world about it, and then let's make a huge deal out of the fact that a popular jock would actually try to be his friend. Then make a huge production out of what a hero this jock kid is for befriending this socially rejected autistic kid, at the autistic kid's expense. Then let's have a really depressing song so that we can really hammer home how horrible this autistic kid's life must have been until he was saved by his popular, sports-star savior! To be fair, Zach ( the jock kid) seemed kind of embarrassed about all the hype, but I'm sure his mother thought it would look great on his list of life achievments guaranteed to empress people (like future employers). The producers of this show should be ashamed, and what was Graham's mother thinking to subject him to that?

The impression I got from Zack and his Mom is they are genuine and wanted to share their story but the show's producers made it into a dramatic Christmas event thinking it would put everyone in the Christmas spirit because befriending an Autistic kid is what Jesus would do.

I've met Christians who are fake and do stuff just to look good but a few people really have their heart in the right place and want to reach out despite ridicule and peer pressure which exists at school.

I find when some NTs help people, it really pumps up there ego enourmously. This is one such example. They are talking about that kid almost as if he is not even there, like he is more of a thing than a human being--all in an attempt to make themselves feel so warm and tender about what they did. At least that is how it seems to me. Awkward!

Graham looked happy in the pictures. The segment seemed contrived but at least the kid had fun managing the baseball team and hanging out with Zack.

Remind me why she was hired in the first place? I think she would fall under the category of a sh***y opera singer.

I'm pretty sure she starred in a Broadway show the parents and kids attended but I forgot the name. The guy who wrote the Miracles Can Happen diddy was sitting next to her toward the end of the vid but I forgot his name, too.

Not only that but I feel my IQ/intelligence dropping when I hear Kathie Lee talk & I also thought that song was atrocious & I'm currently listening to the Victorious soundtrack so that really says something
