13. I stopped going to school at the time, i have severe body dysmorphic disorder. (i didn't know at the time). Along that also an eating disorder. I had alot of anxiety and was scared to go out. I barerly left the house and became housebound. I never had any problems before that. My parents wanted to find out what was wrong, i went into psychiatry. I got tested and diagnosed. It explained my personality and my shyness, but not why i couldn't go to out and my anxiety. I knew that was not the problem. I only found out a few years later about Bdd.

Sometimes i wish i never got diagnosed, my parents like to think all the problems were caused by aspergers. Turning a blind eye for Bdd. It took me a long time to find out about the disorder, even longer for me to convince them i had it and make them listen to me.

Diagnosed at 27, but I had been in and out of therapy since 16 in an attempt to put a name to what was wrong with me.

But I'd heard about it and heard it labeled to me age age 13 or 14.

29, late last year. It had been suggested by two other clinicians in my 20s, though.

So far it's helping me figure some things out.

I was professionally diagnosed after having just turned 44 back in 2008. I felt happy because I moved closer to understanding who I was, and that I was not alone. I adopted the motto, "My journey has just begun," because I felt like I was embarking upon a journey of self-discovery. I learned more about Asperger's, mainly from the WrongPlanet. I better understood my challenges and my positives. I decided to focus more on the positives. I gladly embrace Asperger's in my life and would not want to have born any other way. I am happy with being autistic and would not take a cure if it existed.

I was diagnosed when I was 2 but I was told about my diagnosis at age 9 or 10. Being told about my AS made my life seem to make much more sense. I always had felt off from my peers from the time I started going to school. I was never sure why I couldn't socialize like the other kids. It is a lot easier understanding why my social skills may be deficient and how to change my lifestyle and standards as a result.

I was 12 when diagnosed. I wasn't happy about it. I wanted to be normal and having AS meant I wasn't normal and something was wrong with me.

13. i was ticked off because my parents were using it to invalidate everything i did and validate their opinion that there was something wrong with me. instant denial.

Didn't and don't care.

Already had a few [accurate] anxiety disorders diagnosed before then (OCD, Panic Disorder, GAD and PTSD), so I was over the, "I'm a crazy one", stuff.

BIT early to tell really

I was 16 when I was diagnosed.

I didn't know much about Asperger's then, so I didn't know how to feel.

I was diagnosed at age 23, which was 4 years ago. I always knew I was different and didn't understand why I couldn't make friends, hold a conversation, or even get a job. I had all the social difficulties in college but couldn't explain why. I was originally diagnosed as PDD before Aspergers became a more acceptable diagnosis for my behavior. I wish now that we knew as much today back when I was in elementary/high school so i could have received much better training/education and social skills classes now offered.
