Why do so many people on here hate NT's?
Don't really hate NTs, if they didn't always call me the R word whenever I made the slightest mistake, I wouldn't have a issue with them.
Also, call me the R word whenever I screw up a social situation.
I have no beef with forever alone NTs, as a lot of their life's are slimar to aspie life.
However, I will admit, I cannot stand the NTs who go to those Autism awareness events or whatever they are called. Some people from work went to one of those events (A run in Central Park) and have taken several jabs at me that are AS related, thinking I wasn't around or didn't hear them.
Man, since this is a family site I'm not even gonna post how I really feel about that situation....
Personally, I've met a lot of NTs who know I have Asperger's and haven't been a dick at all, and it goes without saying that hating such a large group of people is illogical because they're all different people.
However, if one is referring specifically to NTs who hate on Aspies, I believe they are justified in hating them right back.
I'm of the opinion that they are justified in feeling wronged and hurt, because in many cases, they have been.
However, I also know that hatred is counterproductive. One may ask oneself: does whoever wronged me, misunderstands me, bullied me, deserve that I hate them? Do they deserve that you would pay them so much thought, spend so much energy on them, have so much stress over them? I would think not. People who feel creeped out by autistics, or who pick up on something being 'off' about us, and target that to ridicule us, or throw us off balance, or ostracize us... aren't even worth the dirt that they walk on. So much more challenging to be the wiser party, and learn to recognise such behaviour so we can avoid it in advance, or better yet, counter it.

I suspect it's correlative with the blight of my generation's more intellectual half: misantropy
Certainly some of the better educated aspies here do not consider me an NT: I'm more unusual then many of you in some way, in other ways I'm pretty alien to most "NT"s, but I am NT in areas that are important, the art of social interaction, though I disregard it's rules almost entirely and in end the end come off as being autistic, it's a choice however.
But I disgress, any statement about NT's is not a state about boorish, shallow, superficial thugs -as much as the poster wishs it were - it is a statement about almost every human who has ever lived, both your heroes and your villians.
Interesting reasoning, since that would mean that any post that isn't weird, rambling and overly emotional (like mine) must not be by an NT, and it's not like a flaunt it.
The reason certain posters and people don't consider me a true NT is because I have a somewhat quasi schizophrenia and I have bipolar disorder.

I cannot tell directly that someone is on the spectrum or not via text. Some clues are an overly intense focus on precision, over the top verbosity, and literalness. I see some pedantry but that is common elsewhere.
I'd say having trouble with people starts and ends with egocentrism.

I don't use NT to refer to all non-autistic people, but I fail to see how "NT" is demeaning.

it's not the term itself, but the way you use it as with nearly any word. when simply talk about nts in general it's not harmful.
but if you say it like i often do, like "great another nt wonderful *sarcasm*" or "it's you nts that are the problem" or "at least i'm better then an nt." if you use the term in that context it is nasty, but it's not the term itself it's how it is used.
those a just examples by the way i do often use it as an insult, but i'm not in a bad mood right now. so i mean no offense.

Any resentment or "hatred" an AS person may harbor towards an NT should be perfectly understandable.
The reality is that we are an oppressed minority and our oppressors happen to be NTs.
Most NTs are quick to patronize or bully our kind - especially those of us on the more "severe" end of the spectrum. Prejudice against people on the Autism spectrum is the last socially acceptable form of bigotry in our culture.
Obviously, not all NTs are this way. But most of them are, whether they are consciously aware of it or not. They may have good intentions when they deny us our individuality or treat us like simpletons in an attempt to "help"...but it stings just the same. The road to Hell is paved with the same stuff.
After years of overt and covert abuse by NTs...it would be amazing if an AS person did not harbor bitterness of some kind.

If they like me, AS and all, that is wonderful.
If they hate me for my AS (and I cannot really blame them if they do)...I don't give a rat's tail.
I am who I am.
I agree with this 100%
I don't hate NTs. My closest friends are NTs and I would never hate them. There are some NTs that I don't particularly like but that doesn't make me hate all NTs. I like a person based on who they are, not whether or not they are an NT. Saying that I hate all NTs over a bad experience with a few of them would be a shallow generalization in my opinion.
my two only friends stabbed me in the back, both nts i am not surprised.
katie changed her cell without notifying me first, so i wound up talking to a complete stranger, is it any wonder why i hate the phone... when i figured that out i nearly had a heart attack.
now i'm just pissed.
laura said she would keep in contact with me, she was the one who thought the rules her company had [she was my theropist] were bs.
after my cat died she pretty much dropped off the face of the earth, and i am going through phyiscal and mental hell.
how convenient that the only people i thought i could trust turned their backs on me in the worst point in my life. once again i half expected it.
and at this point i couldn't give a flying s**t whether they live or die, i have learned not to trust nts. i either get ignored, pounced on, or bitched at. honestly i hate being ignored the most.
i snapped on someone on youtube an apparent rift elitist, those people can go to hell. that is what ruined my experience on wow, all they did was b***h about how i played the game i was paying for.
back then i had a shred of paitance still left, but i have no more paitiance for scum like that any longer. so hate is not a strong enough word for how i feel. despise, repulsed, disgusted, that they are wasting oxygen by breathing. the only decent people i found out of wp is my family, but that is a given.

I believe you're a minority.
Agree?

and you are an nt, thus why the reaction is not surprising.

My mental health status has no bearing on my opinion.

I dunno, I think if anyone ever called me neurologically typical I would be pretty offended.
NT does NOT just refer to people who are not autistic. It refers to people who are not diagnosed with a neurological condition, therefore making them neurotypical.
If you look at sites for other neurological conditions outside of autism, they use the term NT as well. It's not the property of the autism community and it has a specific meaning which many people here seem to forget.
ok sorry, I misunderstood something.
But my main point was: NT is just a convenient term to name a group of people who were lacking a name because they never need a name to talk about themselves. We are different thus need a name to refer to them. Pretty simple and non offensive...
