It used to be astronomy, now it is mammalian biology and ecology.

I also have recycling, which usually goes with ecology, but also some crafting I picked up out of boredom.

and for some odd reason, certain weird non-english songs. a lot of feeling and interest with weird songs... even to the point of emotion... Right now it is "the disappearance of Hatsune Miku" from Vocaloid.

Maybe because certain songs bring be back to the world I was supposed to be born in...

Mine was astronomy too :) When I was 6, I had a favorite astronomy documentary- 99 Worlds and Counting. I watched it so many times that I memorized it. It was on the moons in the solar system, and it wasn't for little kids either- it was a proper Discovery channel documentary that my dad taped for me. During free time in my first grade computer class, we got to draw whatever we wanted on Kid Pix. I drew the surface of Saturn's moon Titan, and explained to my teacher all about the geography and atmosphere of the place :P

Now it's bio, especially neurobiology.

I don't quite remember much of what I did before the age of 12 (barely can remember what I ate last night), but I do know that I simply enjoyed reading every encyclopedia in the house. And we had 3 sets of encyclopedias, a large brown set, a smaller green set in colored pictures and lots of illustrations of how machines worked, and a medical set, that I got obsessed in at the age of 14-17.

I checked out many books in the biology section of our library about experiments and electricity. Mainly because I was obsessed with the pictures of how they work. I never really read much of those library books. And my parents would not let me check out a book on psychic powers that i was interested in (it was more of a ripleys believe it or not book).

And Than I got put in public school, and found something called a "library", and checked out every single one of the astronomy books and visited twice a day so much that the librarians actually gave me 30 used copies of Astronomy magazine, and a new astronomy book. Than later on in highschool I got into biology and checked out every single biology book they had, and took every course on science. astronomy, chemistry, oceanography, biology. I did not get fantastic grades because they always talked about things that did not interest me, like phytoplankton and the big bang. they did not nag about mammals very often, and i am quite interested in mammals.

I never memorized any of the books I read :-(

At the moment mine are geology, palaeontology, evolution, environment, oceanography and marine biology as well as maths.

It was arts and crafts for 8 years but the ones above have taken over lol.

Special interests are the joy in my life!

I Love Lucy is my biggest special interest overall, and it is a hobby/collection special interest. Neuropsychiatry is the special interest my career is based off of. Many of my favorite TV shows, movies, books, etc. have a connection to neuropsychiatry. Just ordered "the Bible" of bipolar textbooks (Manic-Depressive Illness by Goodwin & Jamison). Cannot WAIT to start it!! !!
