Just wondering if anyone was willing to share anything about any medications that have helped them or had negative side effects. I was just curious due to how overly medicated people tend to be.

Personally I have been on almost every type of medication out there since i was about 10. I started out on depression medication. Any type of depression medication tended to make me suicidal and the one actually made me hear voices! I was also on anti anxiety medication which didn't help. Anti psychotics made me gain a lot of weight and didn't really help me with anything.

Adderall has helped me have less melt downs. I am also currently on Neurontin for anxiety/mood swings and I havent really noticed a change. And I am also on Clonidine for PTSD (from being picked on) and I just had to experience being picked on when I went back to my home town...and I didn't flash back or break down! So I guess thats helping me.

So far cannabis, it seems to reduce my anxiety and PTSD symptoms and makes the depression a little bit easier to manage. I also tried Prozac for about 3 1/2 weeks and I ended up throwing out the bottle because it was causing me to hear people whispering when they weren't and greatly increased my anxiety.

Adderall I have taken a few times..........not by prescription, but it seems it would probably not really benefit me to have a prescription because I don't think I have ADD or ADHD so it does not calm me down or help me focus it has the stimulant effects which would probably not be good for the anxiety and PTSD stimulants are better on occasion unless caffeine or nicotine those just help with staying awake when I don't get enough sleep.

Then of course Xanax I have been given it a couple times here and there, and I can see why it's prescribed for anxiety......but from what I hear it's also far more addictive then cannabis is so the risks might be a little higher with such a thing.

Well, a psychiatrist put me on an anti-psychotic (I don't remember the name) in an ill conceived attempt to prevent a muscle twitch I still have. I took one dose, it didn't help the twitch, and I don't really remember what happened about 1 1/2 hours afterwards, just that I was dizzy...
And I am currently on Zoloft for depression, and it has really helped. The only side effect that I have encountered is that I can remember my dreams more :?

I've never taken medication for symptoms relating to an ASD, but I've taken medication for bipolar disorder.

Celexa: did nothing.

Lamotrigine: Helped stabilize my mood. Also gave me Stevens Johnson Syndrome. It was helpful, but that super rare side effect can be deadly, so I stopped taking that one in a hurry.

Wellbutrin: Really helped me, was great, but doc discontinued it because it could cause psychosis.

Seroquel: They tried this one alone as monotherapy and it did nothing, but a small dose in combination with Risperidone helps keep my moods steady, and helps me sleep at night. I'm still on this one.

Risperidone: It's pushing my prolactin level up, so we're lowering the dose. It's been the most helpful of my medications, keeping the mania at bay for sure. I'm still on this one.

Trazadone: Was supposed to help me sleep but didn't help at all. Did the opposite.

Zoloft: Had some weird reaction where I couldn't pee. When I stopped the Zoloft, I could pee again. It was also hell to taper off of, I felt like crap.

I'm currently on a small dose of both Risperidone and Seroquel. We've been lowering the dose for the past year or so, and I'm on less medication than I've been on since this whole thing started, and am doing better than I ever have been, so I don't know if I am just doing better now, or was over medicated before.

Just Melatonin to help my sleeping patterns. It's all natural, over-the-counter, and I'm asleep in an hour, tops.

MDMA and LSD in the right environments opened up the world for me.

As a kid/early teen I was on Adderall and Welbutrin. Stopped those at 14; they didn't really help, and I didn't like the side-effects.

So far the only thing I've found that reduces symptoms greatly is Cannabis. Only a tiny amount is needed. It makes me handle social situations better, makes me less likely to have sensory overload, lessens my touch issues, greatly improves emotional empathy, among many other things.

Adderall- awful. I could not sleep for 3 nights in a row, I was going crazy from it.

Something that I think was for bipolar (wrong diagnoses) that made me seem zombie like. So lethargic. I think it was seroquel, I know I took that at some point.

Strattera, trileptol, ritalin, couple different generics.

Usually not more than one at once

A bunch of other stuff for depression or ADD that did nothing.

I now refuse to take meds. I am not a lab animal that you keep prodding until I do something cool.

Yeah. The only drawback is that it doesn't knock you out as quick as propofol does.

I prefer Doxylamine Succinate to melatonin. Knocks me right out in 30-45 minutes. Melatonin is nice, but it tends to mess up my sleep schedule.

I was given depot melatonin, it made me very dizzy, aggressive, and after a week I felt like I had a mild flu. D:

I like melatonin, I also find valerian root and/or hops tinctures to be very effective.

I would be interested in hearing more of people's experiences with anti-anxiety medication. I have never taken anything like it but I am starting to think about the possibility (any non-pharmaceutical suggestions would be very welcome too).
