Riding a Bicycle.

I didn't learn until I was almost 8. I was in the second grade.

Only once successfully steered a bike when I was 16, then fell off.

Balance is worse these days so it ain't gonna happen.

Was gliding on skateboards when I was 10 though. Four wheels are much safer.

Bicycle riding give me the greatest mental thinking time... I love it and now have 5 bikes. Including a Dutch Bakfiest (cargo bike)

When I was less than 2 I had sit and scooter, then around 2 I got a tricycle. I remember how hard it was to ride (pedal and steer) Then around 6 some big kids put me on a too big of bike and pushed my down a "big" hill. I rode it for a short ride before crashing. But I knew I could ride because I did it for about 20 feet. Then a short while later I had a step-through and couldn't ride the saddle and pedal.

When I was 22 I was in a horrible car accident. Two teenagers were killed. I drove for a long time, but got tired of seeing people or a shoe laying in the road... So now I walk or ride a bicycle everywhere.
I hate riding in traffic because so few people follow laws or are respectable. But I would rather be killed then to hurt anyone ever again.

Bike riding helped me, as at 13 I learned to skate board then at 14 I learned to roller skate and started ice skating at 45.
Once I see that I can do something I just won't quit.

So, I have to learn in steps... I still can't throw a ball and hit something

I didn't find it hard to learn but I was scared to learn. I actually don't enjoy it very much because I don't like trails (for a personal reason) and the cars on the street scare me, I'd like if cars weren't so scary and I didn't have my personal issue with trails. The problem is bike riding is almost always listed as a suggestion for exercise and I don't like it. I realize that there are other forms of exercise, but they aren't as suggested. Also, my bike got stolen.

It took me a long time to learn to ride a bike. When I did learn I became quite good. It has been years since I rode a bike but I am confident I can ride one now without any problems.

I learned late (13) and I still prefer not to do it. I have to get off the bike every time I have tu turn, or I'll fall, and I often get distracted and have to put my feet down in order to avoid falling. The fact that every time I fall the bike manages somehow to fall over me doesn't help

I'm from the Netherlands, #1 cycling country in the world, and I didn't learn how to ride a bicycle properly until I was 9, very late for a Dutch girl. My youngest brother could cycle without those little help wheels at the age of 5. I was always scared and making turns terrified me. It took me at least two years to learn how to cycle through small spaces between, say, two cars without breaking a sweat.

i tried when i was about twelve and it was impossible. i got on it and fell immediately even before i had a chance to go five feet forward. i fell when the ground tilted down into someone's yard and the german shepherd came at me barking threatening and growling. i fell again and the pedel hit my ankle. i limped home. never learned since.

I was actually maybe a bit overconfident when I learned at around 4 or 5. Got my brother to take off the training wheels without my parents finding out. Did scrape my knee pretty badly once, but since then it's been completely natural for me, even during times when I was drunk or high. Don't really have much a reason to ride the past couple of years, though.

I learned to ride a bike when I was 12 or so, from my best and only friend at the time who's family later cut me off.
It was hard at first, but now I can go very far and do marathons.

I'm going for a 65 mile bike ride /century ride March 31st. Farthest I've gone is 40 miles.

Going to have to prepare for it by some carb stacking and using up the stores of glyogen in my muscles...(which is going to suck...gotta exhaust my muscles badly)

Balance! Totally forgot about that.

My sense of balance is fine. The problem is with everything else which in turn can lead to that - figured that out since I know of my ADHD - I struggle to pay attention to not forget about what to do when riding a bike and having to keep my balance.

I never learned to ride a bike. Partly because I can't keep my balance or ride the pedals and steer at the same time, partly because I just gave up because I wasn't interested in learning.

I'm not too bothered by it but it does get a little embarrassing when people say things about riding bikes in conversations, not knowing that I can't ride one, and they talk to me assuming that I can.

I still can't...I hated learning, especially because I just couldn't work it out.

Unfortunately, my family seemed obsessed with getting me to ride a bike, even though I never wanted to. The idea of it filled me with dread and I'd come up with any excuse I could to get out of it...mainly because they kept getting angry at my constant failure.

I never could skateboard, myself. Bike riding was always much easier. I cannot ice/rollerskate to save my soul either..

I cannot ride a bike. I slouch and lack balance (I lean forward)

At school when I was 12, we had to ride "our bike" from point A to point B... the teachers took for granted that EVERY KID (we were +-40 kids) could ride a bike, which surprised me.
Well, it turned out that I was the only one out of the fourty kids, who couldn't ride a bike to save my life much to the laughter of the whole class it was kinda humiliating

I have trouble swimming too.

Luckily for me they never tried to make me ride a bike for gym class.

I have trouble swimming too. My mother doesn't know how and I never got a chance to really learn.

My mother signed me up for some cheap/free lessons at a local pool when I was a kid but I had to drop out of them. I can't put my face in the water without a noseplug and they wouldn't let me do the lessons with one.

In reform school they once brought us out to roller skate and forced me to do that but after going around one time with a couple of people holding me up they let me stop. They realized it was hopeless.
