Lol always remember when my first god son was born. My NT mates first words were 'cool now i can start playing with toys again' and got to say I'm the same when i visit him. Always buy them toys I'd like to play with. Other mates the same he does costume design and so makes masks etc.

Definitely agree with OliveOil that more adults than let on like to do childish things.

I don't think any one wants to stop, they just do it because of what other people think they should do, and they forget how to. Or they select bigger, more socially acceptable toys like cars, power tools etc. I love online gaming and was told that's childish (age range in our group is 14-68 )

If it makes you happy and doesn't hurt anyone else (unless they ask nicely) then whats the harm.

PS I'm 33 and still love Lego and dinosaurs are cool.

I love dinosaurs. I love toys. Nothing wrong with that. More adults should use their imaginations and play more. Steven Speilberg made movies about dinosaurs. No one thought he was weird. A lot of his films are from a child's perspective. Play with what you want!! !! !!

It's true that a lot of people will probably see it as childish and view you as weird/crazy because of it, but there will also be people (cool people, or at least that's what I'd call them) who will probably like you better for it. There seems to be a certain childishness that's acceptable in geek culture. If I met a guy who played with dinosaurs at that age, I'd probably think it was cute. Also, there's nor reason to say that because you are more childlike in this area, you're overall immature or delayed. It seems to me that aspies in general are much more mature in some areas than others. I would be selective about who I shared your hobby with, though, unless you're okay with the fact that certain types of people will look down on and laugh at you. Don't let the fact that those people exist make you ashamed of yourself, though, or make you give up something you enjoy.

FWIW, I'm 33 and like to play with blocks. :)

I'm nearly 30 and my other half is 40 and we still play with Lego. Are we harming anyone? No. So we will continue to do this, screw what others think.

there is nothing wrong with playing with toys... i recently spent $340 on lego for my sons but partly i just wanted to play with it too.. haha

Don't let anybody make you feel ashamed about that! You like the toy dinosaurs, so what? It's your thing. :) Yeah, you'll find some people who call that abnormal but obviously you'll also find a lot of people who accept you and your interests without judgment!

I love those toy dinosaurs and toy animals made by this specific company. You can find them in middle class children's stores since they're mid range priced. I have been eyeing them for years with the intention of starting a collection. I will probably get my first one sometime this month and I'm 31! ;) I am "too old" for them but I don't care.

Personally i think one should do with his or her time what that person enjoys.

We had another thread about swings.

Yeah so what its not normal, but we arent normal.

You just feel good about doing what you like, its hard at first, but as time goes by you learn "hopefully" to not care.

Nobody should stop you from playing.

I actually still see and feel myself much like the kid stuck around 14-16-18 age even though im 28.

Played a lot with lego when i was a kid, still play with lego, but today we are lucky that games such as minecraft exists, its basically virtuel lego to some extent.

When you start trying to do what is normal and secound guessing yourself, that is the path to being miserable in my experience, depression and such. Fun and enjoyment is the most important things in life.

I think normal people loose that special ability you had as a kid, where you and you're toys are literally the center of the universe, you know that kinda feeling you get from watching toystory. I think i still have that to some extent. The most absurd stuff like that i can spend hours and hours if its riding a swing. Playing with some silly toy from those kindereggs.
