Do you speak to loudly?

I always either speak too loud or mumble, depending on my strange moods.

People say I do.

People constantly tell me to lower my voice and then I'm constantly getting told to speak up its as if i never seem to get the balance right I end up just not saying anything

Most of the time. Usually when I have to be polite, or say words I don't like, I'm quiet.

No I speak quite quiet and mumble fair bit.


I think I do it /started cause people used to find me intimidating with monotone to.

Loud + Monotone + Emotions/Upset = SERIOUS


I have painful memory of people saying
"I"m not scared of you!!"

and me standing there confused and hurt, not understanding why they said that,
and that they thought I was being "that' way with them.


I also think its the reason why I can be/go overkill with excessive facial gestures, tone of voice/inflection, acting silly, laughing at self etc, and also explaining explaining explaining stuff as to try make sure they dont misunderstand and take wrong way etc.


(actually led to me seeming like i'm being condescending lol)

It's hard for me to speak loudly without sounding like I'm angry whether I am or not, so I usually speak more quietly to avoid that.

Yup. I talk too loudly most of the time. But then at work I talk too quietly. I seem to hav trouble talking at the right volume.

I'm constantly being told I'm too quiet. I sound perfectly normal to me, but I wonder if thats becaue of my sensitive hearing.
I trained my voice and now I jump between too quiet and too loud( when angry).

I think when I'm 'being myself' around people I'm comfortable with, I speak louder, and when I'm talking to strangers or people I'm not comfortable with I tend to speak quietly (sometimes to the point where they don't realise I've even spoken).

For example, I have been told I speak loudly by my family and my partner. My partner is always telling me to lower my voice when we eat out because other people can hear our personal conversation. Another example is my first job at a supermarket checkout, where customers would regularly not hear me when I greeted them. One lady called me rude to my face for not greeting her, and marched off to complain to my supervisor! I had greeted her, just too quietly.

On the other hand, maybe it's my environment as well? I have Central Auditory Processing Disorder so I tend to miss bits and pieces when people talk to me. Add loud background noise, like a restaurant, and I struggle even more, so I must automatically speak louder assuming the other person has the same increased difficulty I do.

Yep! My parents complain about it a lot.

I speak too loudly some times. If somebody asks me to quiet down a bit, I do, but a minute later I do it again.

Sometimes I do speak too loud or too fast when I'm excited or talking about something I'm interested in.
