Personally, I wouldn't mind being in a bar (ordinarily I just don't go to them, or on dates or anything either) if it were socially acceptable to read a great big fat book there; even better if it were cool to discuss it with someone who could actually hold a conversation about it.
Oh, you mean you´re not supposed to read books in public places? I do this all the time.
I seriously like the idea of having something like a small library; little bookshelves here and there, with interesting or hard to find books- (I´ve often seen shelves and books in quaint bars or restaurants, but that was part of the decor; in this case, it doesn´t need to be just the decor, but people can read the books while they´re in the bar). And what better "conversation opener" than to actually find someone, maybe, who has read the same book as you, or has the same special interest as you?
Needless to say, the bar should have comfortable, easy on the eyes lighting. And a nice atmosphere (I like nice atmospheres, with candles). And how about some gluten free, casein free snacks- so I can donate my recipes and get rich?
