I like them, but they can also be scary and loud.

I am most concerned about my pets and how they'll react. I've had both dogs and cats who were very scared of fireworks.

They're okay.

I used to have a neighbour who did fireworks every day for months (I don't know why), which got very annoying.

They're pretty to look at from a distance.

They can produce a pretty image in the sky---but I don't care for the noise of them.

I've always been afraid to light a match, no less light fireworks LOL.

I think people should really be careful with them---but I understand why people use them...they use them to celebrate.

Not my method of celebration, though.

Funny this came up, fireworks are my main hobby (sometimes rising to the level of an "aspie obsession", but I'm able to cycle through different hobbies). I'm ATF licensed and make my own. Bought a house on 12 acres so I had the space for it, too. I belong to two fireworks clubs. I usually go to the pyrotechnics guild international (PGI) convention, a week long event for people like me, but I'm taking a break from it this year (the solar eclipse is around the same time and I'm more interested in that). I make them from scratch and it's a very artsy-crafty kind of thing. Love the colors, love the noise, but consumer fireworks are annoying to me. They make high pitched pop sounds; the bigger stuff is more satisfying with the deeper booms that you can feel. I do try to be sensitive about people with pets; there's a right time and place for sure. Most of the pyro club events I attend are on huge farms (much bigger than mine) so that helps. I'm not the guy lighting fireworks at 1AM throughout the summer. Quality over quantity!

Also, this is my first post here. Hi everyone!

They increase pollution and disrupt birds' ecosystem

Fireworks have a fabulously unfurling pay off, they are like doomed flowers. I don't mind them when they are competent. They follow an understandable scale of commotion depending on the contents, like pulling crackers they do what you expect them to do, that is, unless there's a dud... that's where issues arise. If you ask me 'how do you feel about fireworks with dubious intentions?' I'd say, I consider them sick in the spark and want them castrated with coldly creeping flames :?
