What does it mean when a girl keeps smiling at you?

I was just on the bus and this girl kept smiling at me and looking at me. Often out of the corner of her eye. I saw her again at the coffee shop. She kept on smiling at me at the coffee shop. I’m a girl myself. I’m worried she thought I was weird/autistic or vulnerable.

I have no idea. I actually cannot understand that someone would smile at someone without making eye contact. Was she with someone else? If she is a lesbian and with someone else then she may like you and was telling the other person that they like you. I am a guy, and that has happened to me before (a girl smiling at me, not a guy). Other than that, I am baffled.

If she is beautiful, it means that you should get up and offer her a drink.

If she is not your taste, it means that she could be your friend, you should get up and offer her a drink.

I notice a lot of girls just smile at you to be polite, even if they don't even care about you at all. I used to think it meant something, but now it doesn't seem to mean anything at all.

I think it means something, in this case.

She went out of her way to smile at the guy.

That didn’t happen to me in high school.

I've always had a great deal of difficulty in discerning the intentions of others, especially NTs. In this case if a random female on public transit smiles at you and then again at a coffee shop it could mean a number of things:

1. An invitation to come over and say hello?
2. She finds you amusing?
3. She finds you sexually attractive?
4. She finds you cute in the same way she finds a child cute?
5. She enjoys playing games with random people she sees in public?
6. She's hoping to provoke a reaction from you for further amusement?
7. She recognizes you from a previous encounter?
8. She's simply being pleasant?
9. She thinks you're in a sour mood and she's trying to cheer you up?
10. She's signaling to you that she's a fertile female and she requires fertilization? If you're a girl then perhaps she's looking for help with in-vitro fertilization?
11. She's hoping to make a friend who might provide protection for her should an unpredictable and/or hostile situation arise on the public transit vehicle you're both traveling on? Or coffee shop?
12. She's actually looking at someone behind you?

Just to name a few examples that all popped into my head within the time span of 1.3 seconds. Sometimes having Autism and ADHD at the same time can be so overwhelming.
