I just move on & do something else when it happens.

Good, that answers my question of frequency and reliability of the notice, but still begs the question: WHY?!? If nothing happens, it is likely a URL redirect, correct? I can't imagine Alex is sending off notices willy-nilly, so if someone else does it outside WrongPlanet.net, it would be a hack. And, hacks spell doom for this site.

It could just be something that kicks in automatically when the system knows something is wrong.

I just figure the operators don't need a message telling them something is wrong. If they are around, the probably know. If not, well...

Yeah I was having a lot of those issues yesterday as well. I thought it was related to my IP address or something so I messed around with my VPN, but got nowhere. But for some reason it was working this morning.

I got it too for a couple of days. All I know - it had nothing to do with the network address. :?

Well, this proves that someone inside or outside WrongPlanet.net has created another problem. Along with the frequent "timing out" issues from CloudFlare, these problems haven't apparently been shared in any legitimate notices from the owner, his volunteer moderators or others.

Therefore, I suspect strongly that the URL redirection was created and shared with the site as a hack. The "timing out" issue is more difficult to discern, but just as concerning, given that it can take several seconds to several minutes to correct itself. And, if it is "self-correcting," why are users' accounts affected?

My personal e-mail communication with the owner hasn't yet yielded a response.

So, who else is concerned that these nuisances might become more aggressive, risky and/or costly? The URL-redirect hack earlier this year cost me $161.00 to repair computer damages.

It's a fairly recent problem. This site has LOTS of glitches thou that have been gradually getting worse over the years. Perhaps one of the glitches allowed this forum to be hacked.

In my opinion, the site is held together with Band-Aids and spit. It is only a matter of time before we say "goodbye" to each other.
