Does anyone else daydream an unhealthy amount? I constantly make these characters and scenarios in my head and can't seem to break away from it. I can't sleep if I don't do it and yet it keeps me up well into the early hours of the morning. When I'm interrupted I get really frustrated and I end up lashing out. I also tend to not notice as much when I'm making noises when I'm daydreaming and when people are around they tell me it's wierd.

I spend a huge amount of my time daydreaming. It's one of my favourite things to do tbh.

Have done it regularly throughout most of my life, as most of my teachers at school would attest to. However, it's become less positive over time; whereas it used to more heavily involve (for example) gaining superpowers or being rich, it now often involves me having imaginary and bitter arguments with people over fairly trivial matters, often brought on by something I may have read online or seen on television.

It's called maladaptive daydreaming. I have heard it's apparently more common in people in people who are on the spectrum.

I get it too, and mine are mostly negative (I used to worry a bit about their content-they don't involve me doing things to other people I might add-but I've since come across other people who have similar negative daydreams so it seems it's not that uncommon and not much to worry about). I often use mine for creative writing, and find getting everything written down can really help control how much I replay scenes in my head.

I know I have a tendency to do it more when I'm bored so I try and distract myself and find other things to do when that occurs.

Yes, it's my routine to check on my blog while listening to music and daydreaming
