Is it okay to sit criss cross apple sauce on my therapist's sofa? Do any of you guys do that? Should I ask him first?

Maybe ask your therapist first ... ?

People in my therapy groups sat every which-a-way they could -- whatever made them feel comfortable.

I’m not familiar with that phrase- is it like crossed legged with feet tucked under opposing knees? I would have thought it was fine, and he could always say if not. You’re supposed to be comfortable In therapy after all.

We used to call it "Sitting Indian Style", but the PC Police changed everything.

Oakling, that is exactly what it is.

Fnord, I feel like I should ask him first and I know that seems like a common sense answer, but it just seems like such a weird thing to ask.

In case anybody ever wants to know for future reference...

I did end up asking him before I did it, and he said that he really appreciated that I asked and said it was absolutely okay to do.

So even though it felt like a weird question to ask, I am glad that I did.

Kind of wanted to know if I could lie down and not sit on the couch

Or if I could move the couch closer to the chair so the b***h would not have to say "huh" and "what" so often

In the past I have asked counsellors to switch the horrible fluorescent lights off and swap seats if the sun is too much for my eyeballs.

The clients comfort is very important, because it could cause all sorts of problems if a client is not.

Think about why Freud used couches, rather than chairs.....
