Generally speaking, I don't have time for special interests these days. Work & family take too much time. But since I often listen to music at work I take an interest in 80s and 90s Japanese ambient music. That and documentaries about mental illnesses and the Apollo space program.

My special interest is Western fantasy writing, and all that is required to do so.
I sometimes collect details of history, religion, and life in Europe, especially England, after the Middle Ages and before the Industrial Revolution.
I also love video games, specifically, a lot of different business sims, historical sims, role-playing games.
Although not really my hobby, I'm about to graduate with a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture.
Maybe we can make good pen pals. :D

Years ago, the X Files was mine. I was obsessed with it. I mean literally. It was the first thing I thought about when I woke up and the last thing at night.

These days my interests are less intrusive and less specific in some areas:

Birds
What happens after death/the meaning of life
Food and healing
60s music

A classic "narrowed" interest of mine was birds -- but only if they crashed into windows and died. No interest beyond that. I read up all I could on this phenomenon after I witnessed a bird slam into my living room window, then writhe on the ground for a minute and then go completely limp. Also, NDE's, but not the meaning of life.

My latest interests are game development and drawing (digital art).

Actually I'll add another to that list, fiction story writing. I've never been very interested in fiction before until recently, and now I'm thinking about it a lot as a way to create worlds that others can experience. It's similar to game dev in that sense. This is my latest special interest (although in a sense I've always been interested in game dev - this is just a new avenue of that opening up for me).

Sounds like we have a lot in common as that's everything I love right there, apart from Asian cultures. I've been into spirituality my entire life and have focused on self development and personal growth.

That makes sense to me - a bird caught your attention, so you want to know all about it. I'm a bit like that as well. I'm really into NDE's but much more in context with what life is about.

My interests are art, history, geography, video games, and music. I am also on Quora and I like Quora a lot because it gives you a writing platform to write about things you like. I really like pencil shaded art of landscapes and cityscapes as my favourite art. My favourite history is England after 1066 during the Middle Ages, Early Modern, Industrial Revolution, and Modern eras. I tend to like lakes and forests as my what you would call favourite geography type. I like Minecraft, Fallout, and Civilization as my favourite video games. My favourite music is Progressive rock and Synthpop I also like some country and folk (esp. sea shanties) as well.

My class are studying England during the Middle Ages in history at the moment. I don't know too much about it. If you'd like to post some information, it would be really helpful. I understand that you may be too busy though, so no pressure.

They really do! I'm into crystals and have loads. Amethyst and Rose Quartz are my favourites. I'm into reiki healing although I haven't practiced it as much lately. I have loads of oracle cards and have a tarot pack but not confident enough to read for anyone. Do/did you do that? I'm very interested in daoism and also Buddhism even though they are very different. I've felt connected to the universe on a deep level ever since I was a child.

I love onyx and aquamarine most, since they are associated with my star sign and my favorite star sign, Capricorn and pisces respectively :) I indeed do tarot readings, (mostly for myself ha ha forever alone) but i did for a friend too once. I had to consult the guide book but it was scary how accurate it was! Now i want to do a reading again, and Light some candles and incense!

I love candles and incense and have loads. I particularly like the yankee scented candles. It's just so lovely to relax to. I like aquamarine as well, also adventurine, so pretty. It's great you've done a tarot reading! It's making me want to do that too. I'll have to give it a try one day on a really good friend and see what happens. Maybe it'll give me some confidence to try on people I don't know so well!

These days my main special interest is the autistic community and the question of how to build it.

I've had a variety of special interests over the years. Most of them have fallen into one of the following categories:

1) Math, science, technology.
2) Various social and political causes, mostly minority rights, e.g. LGBTQ+ rights.
3) Alternative religion/spirituality and comparative religion.
