How long did it take for you to get your assessment report?

I've been waiting for my assessment report for 2 months, is that normal?

I never got one for my ASD diagnosis. I did for my ADHD diagnosis.

I suppose every service and patient has a different situation?

Maybe you won't get it at all... unless you have been promised it?

I just got a letter confirming I had ASD, and that was that.

Have you contacted the psychologist's office yet? That's odd that it would be two months after your last meeting and haven't heard anything at all.

I contacted them a few weeks ago and was told they were in the process of writing it. I'll contact them soon I guess, but I feel bad about rushing them- I don't want things to end on a sour note!

TBH, doing that would probably nudge things towards a positive diagnosis. Assuming it even affects it at all.

Taking longer either means they're giving it their proper attention, or that they're overbooked. You should know which it is when you get the results. IIRC, the first time I got evaluated it did take a while, I can't recall how long.

Thanks, good to know! I guess I'm a little anxious because I feel like I can't acknowledge my autism until I have my report in my hands.

Mine came through very fast! A few days! But I waited four and a half years for the assessment itself and was "Fast-tracked" when I moved area as the waiting times are lower here.

My assessor told me at the end of the last meeting that I was ASD2.
She said it would take her a couple of weeks to send me the report on email.
Then I could look it over for errors in my biographical info etc., or ask questions.
The report was 30 pages with lots of quantitative data, so I can see why it took a while.

I got the first draft on email after about ten days.
I corrected a couple of factual errors and sent it back to her.
Then she was on holiday for a week or so.

A couple weeks later I went back to her office to get a hard copy of the edited report.
That was our final meeting.
She emailed copies to my doctors, after I signed release of information forms.
Then she emailed me a revised copy as well so I'd have it on file.

In short it took exactly a month.
My assessment was April 11 and I got my final, hard copy report May 11.

6 months and , i had to call her office several times , but I waited 3 months before calling .. after many interveiws.

From whom?

Are you awaiting an assessment outcome or confirmation of a diagnosis you've been told already?

Did you pay specifically for a report to be generated?

Yes, I did.

It sounds like you'll get it soon enough.
I know it's exciting, especially if you've waited a long time!

Over a month is not good practice in my opinion.

I provide a full written report and letter of confirmation that can be given to an employer, education providers or any other official body within 2 weeks. I also send a copy of the report to the persons GP so that it can be added to their health records.

If there is going to be a delay then at the very least a letter confirming the diagnosis should be be provided within 2 weeks in my opinion.

In relation to the UK - for the diagnosis to be fully accepted & acknowledged by the NHS a full diagnostic report must by on file within the persons health records. Its simply not enough for a diagnostician to say 'I am diagnosing ASD' - they need to give a full account of why they have come to this conclusion and give details of the diagnostic tools and methods that have been used.
