Our hosting provider is going out of business because their datacenter is raising rates 5X on them. This seems to be happening industry wide due to the AI bubble. So we're trying to figure out what to do. They're pulling the plug on WEDNESDAY so this is an urgent situation.

You been getting charged all this time because of lack of knowledge, nothing else at all. You can host your own server on a PC. Or I can walk you through building one for around $50 maybe. Or maybe I can host it for you for free temporarily but not sure if I could be Wednesday. Those guys that rent out servers dont even have tech people, they just push reset on any problems. They dont do anything. You can even learn on Youtube or with ChatGPT in a few minutes.

Jeff will be putting it on his home lab server for time being but it may not run as well.

I don't like technical change. So if I don't join this discord server I will no longer be able to access WP?

I'm in the same boat and I'm not on Discord either and would rather avoid it.

I think the Discord is just for if you want to be able to weigh in on what comes next.

How about Flarum? I've offered Flarum administrative help before on this forum

I have a cheap VPS in Canada, 2GB of RAM, 2CPUs. Should be able to handle the traffic here with Flarum. But I need help with moderation. To stop spammers, and censure other sorts of bad actors, as is done on this forum.

we're not moving the site to discord. that's to temporarily have people discuss what to do. I'm well aware of how bad discord is and their recent announcements/breaches but it's the one thing everyone has rn so for a temporary chat I think it will be ok.
