I have a jeans knapsack from university times (25 years!) and I love using it, because it's so pliant, soft cotton and a little in rags. I'll miss it so much if I throw it away... Old, soft clothes give me a strange sense of comfort... I get attached to my grey flannel coats too. Am I an Aspie? :)

Retro rags topic

I still wear non-maternity clothes that I wore when pregnant with my last two children. (Loose stuff.)

Makes me feel young and fertile!! :P

Do not worry about the other "thread", greentea. :D

Guilty as charged! The clothes are reasonably neat and clean, not with obvious holes, but they are baggy from washing and because I don't buy things skin tight to start with. My beloved Doc Martens are about 3 or 4 years old, (same as one pair of my jeans) and cracked badly.

Yeah I know. I dress like crap. But I'm looking at the new clothes on sale (I'm limited to what's 'in fashion' because that's all that gets sold round here  ) and the clothes are AWFUL! I can't see myself wearing that wanky stuff, and today some woman tried to sell me this weird jacket that looked like a sack. I'm trying hard to present myself fancier for the picky NTs, but when it comes to that maybe I'll just stay in my old stuff and freeze.

Another old favourite is a 5 year old t shirt. In my defence, I have bought a few new fitted ones and I have one fitted pair of jeans. I'll persist in the hunt for a non freaky jacket and I'll buy myself some shoes that aren't broken.

I have an ancient green fleece too! And I just love it, won't part with it. My friend has the same and she loves it too.

My mum used to throw those things away too, LOL

Ah, I too have an old black fleece jacket. It's not fashionable, but I haven't found another that is so versatile.

I blame a lack of cash flow for the fact that I recently had to sew up my "Y R U SO SMALL?" shirt. And the fact that I like to wear jackets until they literally become unwearable (and past that, even!)... and the fact that I refuse to replace my shoes, which have a very large hole in them.

Yeah. It's the cash flow.

I still wear a hoodie that's at least nine years old...and the only holes in it are the ones I put there deliberately (the zipper tab did eventually break off though).

I wear a lot of clothes that I've had for forever, but some of the REALLY old stuff doesn't fit me anymore (obviously), and then I had this really long phase where all I wore was baggy shirts...kind of grown out of that by now.

So now I've got a closet full of shirts that I only use for sleepwear =/

I don't really see what the big deal is about wearing ancient clothes though...heck, these days, it seems to be in fashion to buy brand new clothes that are designed to LOOK like they're old and haven't been taken care of. I've even seen shirts for sale that look like they've had bleach spilled on them.

I have an "E.T." T-shirt that my father bought for me back in '82 that I still wear. Also, my sunglasses have been in the family since the sixties.

I have a couple of shirts that I've had since elementary school.

Mind you, even though I have physically grown and matured since then, the shirts are not tight at all because they are excessively stretched-out! They are starting to get small holes in them, though. Nothing I can't repair.

I have a pair of boots that I've had since 2004. They were already well-used when I bought them from the thrift store. But now they're just shameful looking. I've worn the heel wayyyy down, and the toes are scuffed and scratched. But they hold sentimental value. (I've worn those boots to EVERY first date.)

My friend and I too can't get rid of the green fleece coats because we can't find any so versatile!

I have tennis shoes, New Balance, that I bought 16 years ago, now that I count! 8O
