I'm not really face blind, but I can't connect names to faces well. I recognize people here by their avatars, names are starting to seem familiar but it's the avatars that have the meaning. Anyone else here have trouble connecting names to things or people?

I recognize people by their avatars too. I hate it when people change them. Particularly if they change them very often.

Mine changes with my mood, but I keep the same theme.

Same with me. General rule of thumb: if an avatar has Johnny Depp in it, it's most likely mine. However, there are sometimes other posters who like to use him too, so if you're unsure just check the username. Or, y'know, you can always check for the trademarks of the IdahoRose posting style - unnecessary hyphens, semi-colons, sentence fragments, overusing the words "however", "as well", "for example", "in my (personal) opinion"; and using British terms such as "films" for movies and "crisps" for chips despite being obviously American.

Yeah - I prefer referring to the avatars than screen names. It's much faster. When people change them I lose them for a bit.

I have the same issue, and have been trying to think of a new avatar because of that. A day or 2 ago I was reading through the messages here and I saw someone with the same avatar as mine (which I just picked among the one they have here on WP) and for a few seconds while reading the message I thought "I don't remember saying that" lol and then noticed the person's name.

I remember the Avatar's more often than names. There are only a handful of names that I just recognize without the aid of an Avatar.

My screen name is my real name.

And my avatar is a photo of me.

I remember the avatars, but I can quickly adjust to new ones, especially if I know the person well. I change mine quite often, might stick with this one for a while though.

i chose my avatar, or more precisely, it chose me, and it is such a good match for my essential personality that i cannot part with it. my username, however, i would change to "abbynormal" if i could.

I struggle with face-blindness on a regular basis. I use other factors, such as hair style, clothing style, behavior, and even voices to help determine who a person is.

Avatars are helpful, but since they change on a regular basis, they can not be relied on.
