long story short , i know theres something wrong with me. ive spent years trying to figure it out. but it like theres a piece to the puzzle missing. so i had an idea. if i were to go to a mental institution and ask to put put under a hallucinogen in a locked room, under video recording, i might find out alot about myself. the video would be there to make sure i remember something incase i black out. anybody here know if this would be possible? im trying to access that other part of me here.

Yeah, they might commit you. I don't know how a hallucinogen could teach you more about yourself. Maybe someone who is good at interpreting people do some sort of survey on you? Like a friend or family member.

You could also try reading about Myer Briggs personality types. That's taught me a lot about me. I am very INTJ.

Mushrooms cactus and DMT is a very risky process, you are 19 years old. Many people screw themselves up on these substances.

Self discovery has many facets, astrology, types aka myers briggs, chinese typing etc

Drugs only occupy a small part of self discovery, and should not be used by everyone

If you did it, and in fact learned something, which I dout, there would be something more you couldn't figure out, what would you do then? Heroin?
There will ALWAYS be something you don't know about yourself

8O I can't believe they would actually do that - even for a long-term resident, and surely not because someone just asked for it.
Besides, you might get more than you bargained for. Trust me, I've been there. I did LSD many times several years ago.

The idea of being the object of study in a laboratory has often intrigued me, and I would also like to be on both sides of that glass wall while there ... but then the ability to actually comprehend and articulate anything would likely be held against me. So, about the best we might actually do might be to just accept the thought of nobody ever really actually knowing much of anything and that the cost of such study is but part of how we entertain ourselves while sustaining and documenting our own ignorance ... and thus do we finally come to understand.

While I get the idea of being studied, LSD is a REALLY bad idea, that stuff broke my brain and I lost 5 years because of it, 30 years on and it still has a negative influence on my life.

I don't think that's a very good idea. That stuff is very addictive and it fries your brain.

LSD isn't addictive and really presents no danger of brain damage in typical doses.

That doesn't mean it's 100% safe, and artificialman's idea is a bad idea.

Why is it a bad idea? Because he is 19 years old or why? Artificialman may gain wisdom and insight...isnt that the reason people have taken these substances for millennia?

I would prefer a child of mine to have tried mushrooms than to eat at MacDonalds all the time

I don't recommend anyone asking a mental institution to lock them up unless they really are a danger to themselves or others. And even then I'd suggest a lot of caution.

So when yo had this idea, were you stoned?

Seriously, no mental institution that I know of would allow such a self experiment.

You can still go several places in the world and experience hallucinogens within shamanistic rites.

Tread lightly.
