Does anyone else twist things?

Does anyone else twist things with a compulsive fervor that defies all reason? You know, like straw wrappers, strips of paper, Kleenex, rubber bands, fringe on pillows, the little things you pull on to open a Fed-X letter, scotch tape, blanket fuzz, thread, yarn, my hair, etc?

I've been doing this since my earliest memory of life. I absolutely can't help it and I'm not even always aware I'm doing it, but I'm constantly twisting something. Sometimes my hands even ache--it's sort of exhausting.

Just curious, am I the only one?

Yep.

I rip paper into strips, bend pins and metal, rip wrappers, twist my hair, pick things (the desk edge in front of me is full of pick marks), fiddle with my fingers, squeeze things, fold things, roll things, poke things, squelch things, you name it.

When I was younger I used to chew things, too. Money, tin foil, paper, my toy cats, fabric ect.

I crack my fingers obsessively... and I can't stop.

Only things that swing/twist back, i.e. rubber bands, swings etc.

I love twisting rubber bands round my fingers ~ I also crack my knuckles.

Most of all though I like to get things (all sorts of things) right to the base between each finger.

I lace my fingers into the spine of magazines when I read them or into the pages of books. I play with tassles on curtains spliting the threads through each finger. If I am playing with money I like to get a penny between each finger. I run my fingers through my hair and lace my fingers together.

I sometimes have an irresistable urge when I see Venetian Blinds to put a slat between each finger.

I can't stop doing this it is just too satisfying.

Hi everyone. I can really relate to everything everyone has said. I twist things, but; mostly I like to shred paper. It is a definite tension releaser.

I just found this board, so I'm new. I hope to have some really interesting conversations with all of you.

What I'm going to say isn't exactly PG 13, so brace yourselves. I was eating an Apple and than I put the core into my brown paper Lunch Bag. I kept on twisting the top of the bag, as I was talking to one of my friends at my Clubhouse. He started laughing and I couldn't figure out why. It ended up looking like a Man's Banana and it's two little Puppies. My friend kept on telling me to Behave.

ya, I like taking stuff like receipts and rolling them up over and over again, my ex kept getting paranoid when i did that to money thinking someone is going to receive one of those and think its been used as a snort toob for some crank or something, lol.
