Wondering if others were (or still are?) thumb suckers and blankie addicts when young.
I sucked my thumb until about age 7. When encouraged to stop, I remember crying and thinking, "why do we have thumbs if not for sucking?". Was inseperable from my blankie until about the same age, when not at school. It was a filthy shred by the time I was done with it.

Any one else?

I needed my baby blanket to sleep until I had my boyfriend to cuddle up to to sleep. I still have my baby blanket in my apartment, and when I'm in my worst states, I still sometimes turn to it. I also usually hid underneath it while I was doing homework even through high school.

I don't have any memories of sucking my thumb, I apparently didn't like things in my mouth when I was little and would spit out pacifiers, but I was definitely attached to my blanket.

I was never a thumb sucker, but had a big problem with biting my nails that started around 6 or 7. I would bite them down to the quick and STILL bite them.

I never was attached to a blanket but I always had to have a stuffed animal with me. I still carry a small Tails the fox plushie with me when I go places. I sit him around in diffrent places and take pictures of him. Image so I have an excuse to why I have him with me. I don't know why, but even as a litlte kid, I always felt better if I had a stuffed animal with me.

I never sucked my thumb. But I had a baby blanket I slept with and then it was starting to wear out more so I stopped and I don't want to get my other baby blanket all dirty and worn out.

I never sucked my thumb. I knew a lot of children who did, but I never. I had my dummy up until I was 3, and I always had my teddy. He still sits on my bed now and I get him and cuddle him when I am feeling anxious or upset.

I never had a blanket because blankets made me feel sick. But I used to love sucking my teddy's nose, but grew out of it around the age of 6.

I still suck my thumb now at the age of 28.

I learned around high-school not to suck my thumb in public though, now I mainly only suck my thumb in bed.
Runs in the family, my mother and most of her siblings still sucked their thumbs until they were 13, my uncle Tim still does at the age of 60.

I never liked sucking my thumb because I didn't like the taste of it. Once I copied my bigger cousin (who always used to suck his thumb) and I got an awful taste afterwards.

I've always bit my fingernails though, doesn't matter what they taste like :) . My mum says I used to sit up in my cot at 16 months old trying to bite my nails, and the habit grew ever since. I can't stop now. I can't stand to have any of my nails longer than the tip of my finger - they have to be really really short, otherwise it feels all funny.

I stopped sucking the thumb before I was put into braces.

I know I got off the blanket, but I still like to curl up under one when watching TV or a movie.

Oh, I'm still completely obsessed with blankets, just not requiring my blankie anymore. ;)

I'm a nail - biter myself....I tend to pick at/bite my cuticles, too....I've done it for years now, and even if I were to break the habit, my nails/cuticles would probably never grow back normally and be scarred. :(

I can totally relate to feeling generally more at - ease when you have a stuffed animal nearby. I've often thought that maybe if I were allowed to hold a small stuffed animal in my hands at all times during the day (I have a little stuffed dolphin that could fill this need very well) then it would take my mind off of biting my nails whenever I was nervous...which is pretty much all the time, or whenever I have to leave my room to go outside and go among people.... And the anxiety doesn't go away even when I get to return home. :(

Your Tails plushie is very cute, too. :D

I know this is going to sound weird but knives were my thing as a kid and still are. It started with a small folding knife that I used to carry everywhere and sleep with. Now its a larger folding knife and a swiss army knife that I carry everywhere and sleep with. And I was a nail biter until a few years ago too.
