My perfect house, assuming money is not a problem at all. It would be very large. I would not have neighbors living near me. The whole house would have black medel gates around it. The gates would be 10 feet tall and pointed at the top. I would have a ton of land and a section in the yard with shaded in kennels for my dogs. I would have 5 dogs and they would be allowed in the house and all of the yard. The house would have 8 bed rooms and 5 bathrooms. In my bedroom (the biggest bed room) I would have something like Temple GRandins squeeze machine, a trampoline, a TV, a rocking chair, a swing, stuffed toy animals and a large bed. The whole basement would be an indoor, adult sized play ground. I would also have a smaller play ground in the backyard. I would have a Jeep and some kind of an SUV. I would also like to own a large ammount of woods behind my house. The woods would be filled bird and deer feeders. I would have hide outs set up in the woods so I could watch the animals without scaring them. What would be your perfect house?

Mine would be tiny and only suitable for one person to live in, me. It would be my haven away from the world where I can be as introverted as I want to be and focus on my interests. It might also have a lot of Stargate memorabilia in it. I would like it to be in a small town because I prefer them over big cities and within walking distance of stores.

I have also thought it would be kind of nice to live in a giant mansion, that is built to look exactly like Black Mesa, a giant science facility from the game Half Life. When I played that game, I loved exploring all of the different rooms and having a house that looks exactly like it on the inside would be nice.

A "camper van", i.e. a Class B Motorhome.

Drives like a regular van, with living space in the back. I can travel and never check into a hotel. I can be out and about for the day and not have to drive anywhere to get back to "home base".

Mines would be more like a bus...

But if the OP asked about a regular home, It would be bulletproofed and sound proofed. Other than that, it would be like any other home.

@Kaelynn - I studied your perfect house. I'm not a psychologist or psychiatrist, but some things about your house just stick out to me.
1. 10 feet tall black metal gates pointed at the top? Pretty fortified, don't you think? Just a little bit paranoid are we? You must've been profoundly hurt by someone and now seem to want protection and isolation from the harsh cruel world.
2. 5 dogs in the yard. That's quite a few. You didn't say what kind of dogs, but I'm guessing if you're seeking protection fromn the world, the dogs would be Dobermans or pitbulls or German shepards.
3. 8 bedrooms. Since you didn't mention anything about a spouse, kids or perfect family, I'm guessing all of those bedrooms and bathrooms are just for you? Probably not. I'm guessing you're planning on having guests in your dream house. If not, a house that large with all those empty bedrooms would amplify your loneliness. It would drive me crazy that, in such a large cavernous house, the only sound I'd hear would be the beating of my heart.
4. In your bedroom you'd have a squeeze machine, trampoline, swing, etc. Seems like a lot just for your bedroom. How come you don't put the squeeze machine in the kitchen and the swing out in the backyard? Again, there's that paranoid image of someone locking themselves in their room and not coming out for days. Also, if you just stayed in bed and watched TV all day you run the risk of getting fat. You might want to consider putting gym equipment in one of those empty bedrooms. A house that large would surely have space for a swimming pool, no?
5. Birds and deer feeders in the woods behind your house. Sounds very nice. The fact that you'd want woods behind your house is interesting. I'd painted you as someone being paranoid. Having woods behind your house contradicts my image of your paranoia. That's a good thing, but would somebody with all those toys in their huge bedroom go walking out in the woods? Probably not. Even if your 10 foot tall fence circumnavigates the entire periphery of your dream house, you'd still be too nervous to venture out so far from home.
6. A jeep and an SUV. How come? The jeep for driving through the woods and the SUV for driving into town to pick up groceries? Sounds good. At least those particular cars show that you're not egotistical. I live in a relatively rich neighborhood. Some of the homes are gorgeous. They all have security. Some have fences about 5-6 feet tall. You can see the cars they drive, too: high end Mercedes Benzes, Rolls Royces, Bentleys, Maybachs, restored vintage cars, etc. I guess nothing says success like a Bentley.

I wouldn't have a dream house, BTW, because a whole house would amplify my loneliness. A one or two bedroom pad with large windows is fine with me.

There would be sporadic nooks in the wall where I could cram myself into if I was having a panic attack. [Corners are nice.]

Probably the way my parents' house is set up; it has two floors and a basement, two bathrooms...I'd want a wider kitchen though. Ours is really narrow and we have to leave the room to cut vegetables and stuff.

All of the doors would have to close properly. I can't stand when the doors aren't closed.

I could care less if the majority of the rooms are big or small; it'd have to be big enough for me to have a large-sized dog. I'd like a biggish yard with trees growing in it like we have now [there's a small patch of our yard that's overrun with mulberry trees and bushes].

And while we're talking 'what if', I would want a slide that goes from one of the second floor windows instead of a fire escape. Cause that would be freaking awesome.

I want the gates so some one doesnt come in and murder me thats all. Dont you watch the news? The reason for the 5 dogs is because thats kind of my thing, dogs. I help train service dogs and show dogs at the moment. 8 bed rooms for my large familly, like if the come for a visit. I dont like people in my space. I want a Jeep and an SUV so I can tranport my dogs places. I normally have a dog with me mosy places I go. (service dog) As far as being lonely goes I do want a husband but no kids. Think about it, if it raining and wet outside, your hyper you might like an indoor play ground. I want the swing in the bed room because I stay up all night and some times swinging just sounds good at 3 am. And sure with the TV in the bed room I see your piont about being fat, but with 5 dogs? I like Border collies Austrailian Shepherds, German Shepherds and labs. All high energy breeds. I would need to run each of them twice a day or more. Im not paraniod, I just like my space and I also enjoy not being murderd.

My ideal house would be an earth ship - house built by my self out of old tyres and glass and plastic bottles and other recylcled materieal stuck together with mud. It would be asthetically pleasing circular shape with arches for doorways. Earth ships are fully self contained they have a section facing the sun with windows on an angle that creates the perfect conditions to grow my own food. It would be completely off the electricity grid fit with solar panels to create power and all waste is recycled and used for fertilliser. It has the capacity to catch and use rainwater - totally self sufficient. It would be on the outskirts of a small coastal town, surrounded by rainforest and a short 5 or 10 min walk by bush trail to beaches. There would be a native animal rehabilitation section to the house where I could volunarily care for animals and rehabilitate them before release back into the wild. Other native animals would be welcome guests both inside and outside my house. I would need to have a trampoline, swing, fast internet connection, music room with lots of instruments, awesome sterio system, outside shower surrounded by rainforest. A yoga / meditation room, with exercise balls, foam rollers, There would be no TV.

One of those old, beautiful three story townhouse mansions in the Garden District. No carpet, wood floors and rugs. Gas lamps that still work along with electric lights. Modern kitchen but one that looks old fashioned even though it's got the latest conveniences.

No pets inside the house at all.

Live in help consisting of a maid/cook and a driver/handyman/butler. Gardeners who come twice a week or as needed.

I like dogs and cats, but their fur makes me itch. My dream house would have a wing for the servants, who would be allowed to have the dogs and cats. (Hey, if we are talking dream houses, I can also dream servants.) My part of the house would be pet free, but they could have the run of the servant's part of the house. There would be one common room, probably the living room where the pets could come, so I could sometimes hang out with and pet them, and there would be a guest room and shower bath next to it where I could shower off the pet fur and change clothes afterwards. The master bath would include a handicapped step in tub--the kind with a door, as I have bad knees. It would also have a large shower room, so I could have a shower chair in there and sit during part of my showers--again, because of the bad knees. There would be a family room with a wood burning stove next to the kitchen. This would provide a place to cook and also heat in a power failure. The living room and master bedroom would also have a fire place. There would be a home office and library room, a pantry off of the kitchen for additional storage, and to house a large freezer. There would be a spare room with shower bath for a live in health aid/nurse, in case I should ever need home health care. There will be at least one or two extra bedrooms for visiting family. There would be a first floor laundry room with a laundry tub. hauling laundry up and down stairs is a hard and potentially dangerous task. I would prefer it off the kitchen, and maybe with a mudroom area, and a door to the yard. There would be an all purpose room, for miscellaneous tasks. I could put my hang drying racks there, and I do plan on getting one of those knitting machines. In a dream house it could go in that all purpose room along with the knitting supplies. The house would be earth sheltered, have solar panels, and a wind mill.
There would be a play area for Lego, train sets, and anything else that strikes my fancy. There would be sunrooms, one for me one for the servants, and one for growing food. That one would be near the kitchen. The house would be in the woods with mountains all around, and the property would be by a lake.

The run down trailer I live in will have to do, but at least I live alone, and it's better than some of the other places I've lived. And the better places I've lived in came with stress inducing relatives, so I am really much better off now. :D At least I've realized my dream of living alone. :sunny: And I do have a spare room for my home office and other stuff. :D

P. S. I recommend against having a deer feeder. Anything a deer eats can and will also be eaten by bears. 8O

My ultimate ideal house would be located in western North or South Carolina, well away from hurricane worries, out in the country, but near enough to shopping. It would have plenty of skylights throughout to provide sunbeams for kitty-brats.

The main living area would include an area with two identical computer rigs optimized for gaming, one for me and the other for my husband

It would have two master suites, one for me and one for my husband, each with it's own heat/air system (one of the things we have in common is insomnia; among the things we don't have in common are everything under the heading of "sleeping preferences" -- we current have separate rooms at opposite ends of our double-wide). I would have a second computer rig in my rooms for when I need quiet. There would be another computer rig in my husband's quarters for when I have company.

The house would be surrounded by wide screened porches, with an assortment of swings and rocking chairs.

Behind the house would be another building that basically illustrates my views on what the ancient Romans would do with today's technology, complete with indoor pool, hot tub, steam shower, and Japanese toilet.

Given that my husband and I both have executive function difficulties, a live-in housekeeper/pet sitter and handyman/chauffeur would also be advisable.

I would also have a cottage or two for guests, so that they don't have to cross paths with my husband the NT hermit

It would be paid for, on enough land to not worry about encroachment and stocked with a lifetime of the non-perishables that I always run out of and have to go to the store.

Not this place.

It'd have to be sub-urban as I like being around people and shops, but somewhere close enough to nature to escape if needed. It would need to be somewhere safe so I don't have to worry about leaving the house, having to walk a certain way to try to avoid trouble or running into trouble whenever I go for a walk - lots of safety and CCTV around the house. Open-plan downstairs and normal bedrooms upstairs - or an airy apartment - a nice garden which is big enough to sit in the summer, grow vegetables and have chickens but not too big to care for. Somewhere dedicated to working - a nice little office with a desk and bookcases but also with a sofa and TV to distract myself with too. The total dream house also has a few extra rooms for guests, a nice big kitchen, and my own bar including pool table :D

I would have a small old fashioned cottage in the country surrounded by hills and forestry. I'd have a room for my birds, I wouldn't have ANY cats at all, I've always grown up with them, and they annoy me so much when they start trying to get into my room to terrorize my birds.

I would also have an outdoor aviary, thogh I don't know if it would get used much since I'm over protective of my birds. :P

I would also have a room full of aquariums for fish and my pet snails and turtles. :)

My house would also have to have a small library/ study and I would have a nice big TV to watch all my movies. ^_^

Okay, I think I just described what I want in my house, rather than the actual house. xD
