Do you hate open house window curtains/blinds?

Do you hate all the light coming in? Is it distracting? Too many things to see outside that bother you?

I don't mean literally open windows with air coming in
, but just open window blinds/curtains that let sunlight (not air) in.

I read elsewhere that Aspies tend to hate open window curtains.

No, I love open windows. It keeps the house feeling fresh, especially when the wind blows. It also helps to calm me when my phobia of vomiting starts acting up, because whenever I felt nauseous as a child, my parents would take me outdoors to breathe in the fresh air. I miss living in a two-story house, because back then I could keep my window open all night without worrying that someone could sneak a peek at me or break in.

I hate open windows only if there are no screens to keep the insects out. I thought this was just because where I live, there are MANY mosquitos; but when I was in Germany, the people I was living with did not have screens on the windows, and they thought it very strange that I preferred to have them closed. I just cannot enjoy an open window in a house if it does not have a screen on it, even though it made my room a bit stuffy.

I strongly dislike open windows when unwanted sounds are coming though though - such as people talking, (and especially) children playing, etc. Same deal with lawn workers and such. People come every week to do our lawn, and I always hate it, because I feel stuck inside, and feel uncomfortable approaching any windows, closed or open.

I definitely like a nice breeze blowing through the house though.

I prefer to have the blinds or curtains mostly closed though - especially when there is bright light outside, and even more when people are around.

I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if the windows were opened. My anxiety would be too high to allow it. I do keep it open all day, though.

I had roommates who loved opening the curtains/blinds.

I HATE open curtains. HATE it. Makes me nervous just walking into a room with open curtains.

And, literally opening the windows? NO way.

I can hear children playing, cars passing, etc. with the windows themselves fully closed.

I hate open curtains... too much sunlight, wind outside, and "messy" nature/buildings that I can see through the windows.

I like to keep the windows open for the fresh air.... I hate the noise, a lot.

I have a rail yard with repair shed (includes a turbine APU sooo loud), a city airport, a highway and a bus route all within 1k of my house..... Boyfriend bought here because it's 5 minutes to his work, he doesn't have sensitivity issues.

I talk to another WP member regularly on the phone, he doesn't envy my noise.

Lawn mowers, leaf blowers, circular saws, air compressors, nail guns, dogs barking, kids screaming, mothers screaming for kids (ever heard of a leash?!?!?) Broseph rig pig trucks, loud motorcycles, I could in fact go on.... I hate city life.

If it's really bright out I keep the blinds half open. At night everything gets closed.

Yes and no. I used to hate them far more than now but I still have my bedroom windows blocked off to keep the sun out because I am a day sleeper.

I open my window maybe once a week to air out my room. I have a bird as well, so curtains are always open on sunny days. Gloomy days they're always shut.
If it were just me and my snails, though, I'm sure they would be shut 24/7. I also cannot sleep with any amount of light. I love utter darkness.
I've recently moved house and there's a street light right outside my bedroom window, 'tis annoying.

When I lived with my grandmother, I had these flattened cardboard boxes that I put over my bedroom window to block all incoming light.

The next two places I lived had really good blinds/curtains so I didn't end up covering them.

Where I live now I've hung a comforter over the window. It's got venetian blinds, which I also hate, as they let light in.

Sometimes. I don't like the room being too bright because then it makes it hard to see the TV or my computer screen. I also like to keep them closed to keep the light out at night at night. I will open them to save on electricity during the day.

I do love having my windows open and I live in a quiet neighborhood despite living close to a busy street. But there are less cars at night and very few are on the road then. It's a way to let in fresh air when there is breeze. I do like to hear sounds outside like kids playing or the school bell, neighbors talking or a dog barking, buses going by and cars.

Yes - absolutely positively can not stand open curtains on a bright day. Matter of fact, I do not just have closed blinds. I have closed blinds and dark curtains over those.

If I go outside in sunlight - dark sunglasses are in order.

My worst sensory issues is my eyes.

Then hearing. Then tactile.

Light doesn't distract me at all. In fact I can't sit in a room with the curtains all shut in the middle of the day. I find it depressing.

It's noise that distract me, the quieter the noise the more it distracts me and irritates me.

I like to keep the windows open in the warm months, but I still keep the blinds down and closed.

I like everything open in the daytime (windows, blinds, and doors), as long as there is an excellent bug-proof screen in place. At night, I close drapes and blinds, but prefer to leave windows open. I feel very choked in a house with the blinds closed in the daytime, and I get stuffy if the house is all sealed up with no flow of fresh air. I've never had an issue with the idea of somebody looking in at me, or anything. Honestly I don't care, but I don't parade around nude anyway, so nothing to see even if they did look in.

Yes! I must have black curtains or a bedspread hung over my window. I -do- like keeping my window open, but doing it during the summer and spring is a bad idea. Wasps and centipedes can squeeze through the screen in the window seal and we have lots of them because we live in a forest.

Sometimes but usually only when the light that is streaming in is too bright.
