Do you have difficulty making decisions, big or small?

I have great difficulty in making decisions. If you ask me what flavor of ice cream I want, or what I want to eat, it will take a -very- long time for me to figure it out. Same with any decisions, big or small. It's pretty extreme actually - if there are not other people around to help make decisions, it can get pretty bad - like I'll go a day without eating because there's nobody around to tell me what to eat (not to mention I will often not notice the hunger).

Sometimes I know -exactly- what I want, right away, or a decision comes quickly - but for the most part, making even the smallest of decisions or choices is very difficult for me.

Do you have difficulty making decisions or choices? Does anyone have ways around this difficulty in making decisions or choices that they use?

I am totally rubbish at making decisions. The odd thing is that I do find big decisions slightly easier than small ones sometimes.

The same happens with me sometimes - I'll sometimes quickly and suddenly make big decisions, at a higher frequency than happens with small decisions.

Yes, I often have this problem. It happens with watching movies, watching TV shows on Netflix, playing video games, deciding what to eat, and so on. The times when it doesn't happen is when they're a part of my routine (say watching 1-2 episodes of Farscape every morning) or that I've been planning for it (like going to the theater to see a movie). When I go to the store I often buy the same stuff I always purchase even when I don't want to buy that particular product because it is easier than deciding to buy something different.

I also have this problem.

I'd never really thought about it before.

I am the same, I have a LOT of difficulty with decisions!! ! I can spend way too long trying to make a decision. I have to go through every possible scenario in my head before I decide, it is so annoying. This is why I prefer to stick with the same thing often - it has already satisfied most of my criteria. Unless something new has occured which I have to take into account.
It drives me and anyone affected by my decision crazy!!

All the same things go on with me - I have to go through every possible scenario in my head before I decide, and I find it extremely annoying - as do the people affected by my decisions or held up by the time it takes me to make decisions. I also tend to stick with the same things often. I wasn't sure if it was just me or not, so I'm glad to see others here on WP saying they have the same problems going on.

I take forever making decisions! It took me 3 hours to buy chair from office max and a week to pick out a water bottle!

I hadn't thought about this. I know it's easier for me to do things if I go through possible scenarios first, but I think of those mainly in terms of things I need a day or more warning. But yes, when I'm making more immediate decisions, I have to work out what I will do. This is part of the reason I frequently fall back on habitual choices even if they're not strictly what I want.

This.

Unfortunately people really want you to make decisions. When my mum goes to the shop and asks if I want anything I generally reply food, but I can never be more specific than it. It frustrates people.

My lack of ability to make simple decisions doesn't frustrate me, it's just when people keep trying to make me make them when I find it difficult to deal with.

I dread going to any restaurant not just because of crowds, but because I know I will freeze up when asked what I want. All those choices on that brightly-lit board, 90% of which I have never heard of/can't wrap my mind around, just add to the problems. I end up making the same order every time: chicken nuggets or chicken strips. I want to try something else, but without a menu to plan ahead, I just go into a state of "mindlock." When I purchase a book or anything else, a slurry of thoughts rush through my mind like "What if I bought it and then run out of fuel?" "What if my house is destroyed in a storm?" What do I say to the homeless man on the street begging for money/food?" "What if my headphones break?" What do I do then? I end up visiting the store several times, leaving empty handed until I have been able to weigh out the risks/rewards of purchasing the specific item. :wall:

I hate making decisions. I hate choices and options. I hate thinking about krap like what to eat or what to buy. I hate doing krap like eating and buying too.

Ah yes I can totally relate. Yeah menus are always so overwhelming with all the choices I usually end up buying whatever the person I'm with gets. Another thing I find terrible is picking out cards for people. On one occasion I spent an hour picking out a card which then led to the newsagent giving me a funny look.
I really hate how I antagonize over decisions, but strangely I find big decisions easier to make, although it's probably because I get more time to think over it.

It depends. There have been cases where I've had different tabs on my browser opened to different Pizza Delivery websites going through their specialty pizzas deciding which one I want and seeing where they're located on Google Maps.

Me too, especially under pressure like when the ice cream person is staring at me expectantly.
