Certain textures = sensory overload.

Does anyone feel sick and completely overloaded by certain textures?

I simply cannot stand wet sand. Enforced beach holidays were hell for me because of this. Also scratchy fabrics and oily substances *shudder*

It's smells for me. I can't tolerate cat pee.

Smells
-Dog Poo smell makes me dizzy to pickup, I can't stand it, and if I get any on my hand I have to hold my breath and wash three times.
- Taco Seasoning Makes me dizzy
- Spicy foods I can't stand the smell or taste

Textures:
- Any grain or carb that is soggy
- Flat soda - once it is open more than a minute I wont drink it. Flat soda is worse that Tonic water, which is equally capable of making me throw up.

For me rubbing wet hands trough a cloth towel, and number one nightmare is chewing on a towel. I don't chew on towels but if i think about it it's horrible

Yes, yes and yes. I am utterly incapable of touching soft things...teddy bears, very soft blankets, etc...especially when my hands are dry. The thought of that disgusts me beyond words. I also strongly prefer to not touch dirty things, haha (watch out, delving into original territory here) - I had a job cleaning dishes that only lasted a month in college because I couldn't get over touching all that filth. Anyway, to get over this, I use the roughest, lowest thread count sheets I can find and use hand lotion often. I remember reading a few years ago how Megan Fox can't stand to touch newspaper.

Polyester fabric. Oddly enough, not polyester yarn--in fact, I crochet with it constantly. I think it's just the sensation of being wrapped in the stuff that's too much to take.

Smells... hmm. Cooking food, sadly enough. I can't stand it. It gives me a headache and nauseates me. Especially if it has onions in it--I like onions and will eat them, but exposure to the smell for a long time will overload me.

I'm with wet sand, cream and towels. These can be combined into my worst possible combination, which is sun lotioned skin, covered in sand, wiped off with a wet towel. I love swimming, but it takes a lot for me to overcome this combination to go swimming.

I've never really been able to tolerate wool or any sort of synthetic jumper either. The worst are those squeaky plastic ones.

Any hair, this is the worst bit being intimate with the wife. Her long hair on sweaty skin, eww. I can't stand my own hair in certain places, e.g. down there and on my back. I tend to pluck it all out over time.

Wet sleeves. hay, wood shavings and waxed jackets are reasons why I gave up riding.

Sponges are pretty nasty, although oddly enough I did used to quite enjoy eating sponge, I seem to recall quite enjoying eating my baby mattress. Something I finally gave up at age 6.

I'm a T-Shirt at zero degrees sort of person.

i couldn't stand jeans when i was younger. skinny jeans are ok now, however blue jeans make me shudder... just blue ones...

I love the feel of wet sand. I have scraped myself raw rubbing it on my legs at the beach.

I can't stand the feel of newsprint--it feels like teeny-tiny splinters all in my fingertips. Same for synthetic fibers. It feels like they're going under my skin and I want to roll in wet sand to scratch them out .

We were given synthetic blend sheets as a wedding present and I can't sleep on them. Even in the dead of winter they make me sweat. It's like sleeping in a trash bag.

Any time I wear something that is not loose fitting enough my skin feels like there are small insects crawling all over it. It's sort of a prickly sensation and very unpleasant. I also HATE polyester with a passion.

Smells: Fish. I never ate at a fish restaurant in my life. Just driving by one makes me gag. I can't stand the smell of it.

Textures: Jeans. I HATE HATE HATE the feeling and texture of denim jeans. It's so dry and scratchy.
I will wear jeans only if they're loose enough so I don't have to feel the texture.

Sounds: People yawning or sneezing. It makes my blood boil and I don't know why.

wet paper also petting a dry dog with wet hands.

Touching any animal when my hands are wet. Bleck. Makes me shudder.

Also, when I file my nails and the file rubs against the tip of my finger. Or the feeling of putting on lotion. I like the way it feels on my skin, but all the rubbing on the palms of my hands makes me crazy. Also, eating really spicy food. It makes me want to run away. It's hard to explain, but it's like some sort of survival instinct.

Glass that has come out of a dishwasher - it feels squeaky in an awful way.

The word: 'twitterverse- gives me a similar sensation - its hard to write and now I have to get it out of my head - oh that bugs me! It makes me wince. Anyone else have words that bug them as well?

OMG me too everybody thinks I am crazy for that. It feels HORRIBLE but nobody else seems to understand. I'm not alone!

My other main one is newspaper, it feels horrible to me, I really can't deal with it.

Denim is horrid. Stiff clothing in general is bad. Sometimes I can't handle paper, sometimes I can. There are other types of things that are like the paper problem but they vary and are hard to explain each item of. Trimming my nails. Files are even worse, not even filing my nails, I'd not ever try to do that, but touching the file to pick it up if I saw on one the ground. Lotion is bad too. Sand isn't bad on its own, but sand in sunscreen is horrid. Food textures... eggs.

Smells are really bad for me. You can pretty much generalize to, if its man-made, it'll probably be a problem for me. I use an air purifier and a mask and lots of avoidance. And ibuprofen, because I get migraines. People who try to cover up scents that bother them with fabreze are a huge problem for me if I'm around
