There are so many Aspie who are honor roll students as well though that it might be better to have a bumper sticker that reads: "My Aspie is an Honor Student (naturally)."

Aspies being smarter than honor roll students? Who told you that? The average Aspie has an average amount of smarts; the average honor roll student makes better grades than the average Aspie, by definition, just because many Aspies don't get on the honor roll. Quite a few of us do get interested in academic subjects, and quite a few of us are honor roll students, but I still can't help but admire those NTs who are organized, disciplined, and dedicated enough to make it onto the honor roll even without the drive imparted by an AS special interest. Why shouldn't their parents brag a little? Don't look down on them, please. They're human, too.

Its not really bragging its more like gloating, my parents never did that when I made honor roll let alone strait As just a good job heck I even attended an extra curricular school after school for those who have high gpas known as the Center for Advanced Research and Technology.Funny thing though quite a lot of aspies like Albert Einstein have gone light years beyond your average honor roll student.

It's because the ratio is entirely different.

It's like giving a ribbon to whichever object gets a higher rating on a thermometer. - a 100F Fireplace or a 15kg rock.

Naturally; you can't measure weight on a thermometer.

You forgot us 'other' Aspies. My parents bumper sticker would have read "my kid is a continuation school student. At least he's not in juvie."

Quote:
Qualifications for being classified as at risk include, but are not limited to, credit deficiencies, poor attendance, drug users, and/or behavior issues. Second, stipulations require counselors to develop a list of coursework for continuing his or her education if he or she fails to meet graduation requirements. As a result, in many cases continuation high school fits the needs of those students who were identified as at risk.

Best school I ever went to. Finally treated like a human being rather than a grade.

It is true that some Aspies are smarter than some honor students, but it is tougher for us to get good grades. As amazing as this may seem to some, bad grades and low-intelligence don't always coincide. Good grades and high-intelligence is more often true, though not always... but in any case, I had about a 2.5 gpa in high school and then went on to college to earn a 4.0. My sensory and social issues were too bad for me to do well in HS (and my self-esteem was dangerously low), but in college I really stopped worrying about either one and just did the work and focused only on that.

The point is that poor grades are common for Aspies; most of us are aware of how smart we are, but we just may not have the As that the rest of the world uses as proof of the smarts. Alternative forms of education, less emphasis on letter grades, or making the best use of students' strengths seem to be a workable solution.

I have always liked the "My honor student can kick your honor student's a**" bumper sticker because it suited myself more than those boastful, over-the-top ego-thumpers (I'm using the colloquial meaning of "ego" here and likening it to "Bible-thumping") the school sent (that, and I honestly hated our high school colors - blue, white and gray: the white and gray tend to not accentuate each other very well). I personally see no necessity in broadcasting to the world some arrogance-laden message of perceived intellectual and academic superiority. For now, that sacred space on my car (and the windows as well) is reserved for decals advertising my favorite bands.

It's not gloating, the schools give them out to the kids who bring them home to the parents and want the parents to put them on their cars. I've gotten one before and stuck it on the car.

My husband used to have one that said "My kid beat up your honor student" lol!

He also had one that said "I'd kill Flipper for a tuna sandwich".

Honestly though, if the school sends one home with your kid, there really isn't any way to get out of it.

I don't care for bumper stickers and they don't get my attention. I had a bumper sticker on my mom's car once and then after that she never wanted another one on her car again. Some people just don't like them on their cars. Some find them tacky.

I did see a bumper sticker once that said "I love someone who has autism" and I followed him and it turned out he lived right close by and he lived right across from my parents land. That sticker fascinated me. That was back when I lived in Montana. That was the only time I ever was impressed by a bumper sticker and got my attention.

EDIT: Oh here is another I liked but I never saw the sticker but my husband told me about it. One of his neighbors had a sticker that said "I would rather wear a diaper than be tailgated" and I was so fascinated by it and wondered what did it mean. Was he a diaper lover or an adult baby?
