Months ago I saw this mentioned a bit on the WP adult chat thread.... How many of us clench and/or grind jaws/teeth? I do it a lot, and it causes a lot of pain because I clench harder on my right side. I wish there was something I could do about it. It seemed to get worse after I had a wisdom tooth removed on that side about 4-6 years ago or so. Anyone have any suggestions? Besides the mouth guard, or whatever they called....

I try to relax my jaw whenever I think about it, and I seem to relax more and more over time. I also use a little Tiger Balm from time to time. My chiropractor works on it, too.

put your tounge in the way, you wont be biting down hard on that. however, if it starts bleeding, getting numb, or looking like a piece of hamburger. stop!! !

I don't grind my teeth, per se, but I do click them together a fair amount. It's a good, subtle stim.

I know this may sound odd, but when I got my tongue pierced, I quit grinding my teeth.

I don't know if I grind my teeth now because I live by myself. When I lived with my family they told me I was doing it during sleep. I might be doing it now, too, because I have some tooth nerve ache, which, according to the dentist, could possibly have been caused by grinding the teeth.

I hear stress could be one of the causes of tooth grinding. If so, you had better deal with your mental stress.

I know when I've been grinding my teeth in my sleep because I will have a little ridge of irritated tissue on the inside of my mouth right where my teeth come together. If I haven't been grinding my teeth, then the inside of my cheeks will be smooth.

I do that and I always have. My teeth are ground down to almost nothing according to the dental hygienist. I have to constantly think and focus to relax my mouth and jaw. I suck my tongue when I sleep too and that does not help either. I often will put my tongue in the they to prevent the grinding. I have huge bite grooves on the sides of my tongue.

I have been grinding and biting since childhood, so my teeth are very worn, some of them hollow from the pressure. I have had mouth guards a few times, but they are so expensive in DK.
Often I wake up by a violent bite in the edge of my tounge. AUCH! Perhaps I was a pike in another life :?

I did this more when I wasn't working out.

I'd get a punching bag and burn off some energy.

I jaw clench, but I don't grind. It means I am probably in a bad mood... which then means I am probably feeling nervous.

I have a jaw-tensing tic that synchronizes with my vocal tics, so I tense my jaw a lot. 8O
