This whole Adam Lanza story just puts a pit in my stomache because of how they keep mentioning he had ASD. It's one of those things where they will keep mentioning it until everyone goes "Wait a minute, he did it because he had ASD!! !" Then we all are really screwed more so than we already are.

This is making the general population hate us even more. I bet more and more people are donating to Auti$m $peak$ than ever before.

This is, among other things, the consequence of ignoring the fact that the most common factors in such shootings is that they're most often committed by cisgender, heterosexual, white men.

So it has to be mental illness or some other factor that does not implicate such men.

Society has basically been doing this forever... :/

What I'm trying to say is that we need to have our talking points ready, and try to push the conversation in a positive direction, and at times be satisfied with small steps on the part of the other person.

And all the while acknowledging Newtown, Connecticut, as the huge human tragedy that it is.

The vast majority of mass shootings are committed by cisgender, heterosexual white men. Yes, some are committed by men from other demographics, but the majority? Yeah. You can't counter it with intraracial violence or knife rampages because they're not really all that comparable.

But no one wants to look at the primary demographic that commits these crimes because such people are widely viewed as "default" for human. It's that white male privilege.

If the committee finds out what really drove Adam Lanza to become a terrorist, then we will be finally be able to screen for such behavior.

Personally, I think that the motivation was something similar to the collection of motivations for people to commit suicide, with the exception of an overwhelming sense of persecution (mass murder) instead of an overwhelming sense of hopelessness (suicide).

Perish the thought that if he'd been NT but left handed, they'd have been all up in arms about left handed people. I mean, that would be just mindlessly bigoted!

The police report on Newtown said the shooter had no motive for his actions. Personally I believe his motive was the political fallout from the shooting. My theory is that Lanza thought that if he murdered children he could prevent further murders through public outcry. Why else would the guy act the way he did, such as destroying his hard drive, yet leave documents on school shootings and morbid pictures. More importantly how should we respond to such a terrorist tactic?

Actually the Chinese guy wounded 22 kids and an old lady with the knife. He didn't kill anyone.

The Chinese are a little too smart too let that happen there. They don't let crazy people have the mass killing weapons, like we do in the US.

They don't teach basic chemistry in China?

This is what has been bothering me too. If they are going to blame autism for this, lets at least see the proof. Somebody heard that, that somebody else overheard Nancy Lanza telling somebody else that her son has Asperger's...
