I've noticed that other people seem to have trouble understanding what I say. They'll act like I said something different that would involve a lot of the same keywords, like the kind of mistake people might make if they were only partially paying attention. Sometimes this happens in writing, but it's mostly a problem verbally. They'll act like they understood (which is why it took me so long to notice this happens), and I'm not sure if they're deliberately faking understanding or if they mistakenly believe they understand. Although I only recognized it recently, in retrospect, I realize I've had this problem for a long time. It causes problems when discussing work-related info with colleagues, explaining my symptoms to a doctor, or communicating with almost any other business I need to use. My mom seems a bit oblivious too.
They can't be assed to listen to all your words or read what you write other than diagonally. Even when they end up spending more time than if they'd cared to get it right in the first place, they simply can't bring themselves to show you the respect paying attention to you for real would imply, as your status isn't high enough to justify such a behavior.
It gets really frustrating when you're used to paying full attention to what they say, regardless of their status. Often they even interpret your body language as meaning
you aren't paying attention, especially when they're repeating themselves for the hundredth time, believing it hasn't yet gotten through your thick skull.
